I will say though, the place is clean, it's almost like no one was here!

shhhhhh, well…its 5AM and i am sitting here in my boxers with a cold beer next to me and what appears to be a discarded shrimp scrap in my hair..My fingers have blisters and ohhh… wait.. I will be right back…………..flush……….. OK, that’s better…I don’t recall eating what ever that was yesterday… But it must have been good, cause.. I ate a lot of it.. I lost track of everything after Raquel lost her towel and was walking around the party looking for it.. I am shocked that no one could find it..After Matt Helm showed up, you could nt get into a bed room, and lily’s Chocolate cocktails were taking there tole. The Harrisons never made it.. And the west coast was still pumping late into the night.. Like they had 3 hours on us. The cops only had to come … OK they basecly moved in once Chubaca got here.. Thats when it all kinda derailed..To say the party was a success.. Well I could go on and on…here are some pics of the folks and the cops.. Oh…wait… I need to go……

I dont even recall taking this picture

Our trusty cops kept the gang safe..

I am not sure why the Boston PD showed up, but we would like to thank them for these images. I think they just knew it would be a good time and .... well.. Miss Welchs towl, needed to be found.. We really looked hard for that one

OK.. I found this in my camera from last night.. Thats the boatress on the left with my pal Julie.. I have no idea what this is about, but may explain why I am in a Pope costume.. WHAT IN THE HECK HAPPED LAST NIGHT?

A “Morning After” shot from fellow Woody Boater Brian Franchini who came all the way from Lake Tapps, Washington for the big party yesterday.

Crap. Out of gas on the way home. This thing uses as much gas as Paul’s Scripps! Thanks for the party!

This just in from fellow Woody Boater Philip Andrew from New Zealand, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean…

Matt and Texx- after trouble starting the V8 I left NZ shores bound for the virtual WB Party last Thursday morning, As dawn begins to light the day Im just coming into Pearl Harbour to refuel. Keep the beer cold. Phil

Thanks Phil, gotta love those iPhones… I’m sure Chad, Steve, Jim, Brian, Mike, Al, and the other “last to leave guys” from last night will be more than happy to get the virtual party fired up again for when you arrive. We will just go bang on the door of the cabin to wake them up and let them know you are getting close in the intrepid Century!

We may have to send a truck down to Woodyboaterville for some more booze, ice and shrimp… Texx

Chewey, the Wooden Wookiee the morning after…

Damn Wookiees are fun to party with, but they can’t hold their booze. Hold my hair out of the toilet…don’t let my hair get wet. That’s all he can say between heaves. What a wus. – Jeff

All I know is that the computer fan is REALLY LOUD today. After Liliy went to sleep the drinks seemed a little stronger. And why does it say Lapstrakes Rule on my forehead? Damn Lyman guys. At some point I might have said something about needing a 5200 bottom…….now how do I get it off my a$$. Great party Matt & Texx, and evryone else who was there. Hey there’s a Riva towel hanging from my door handle.

      • Rick

Link brings me to a site to create my own Blog. Hey what’s going on here, this is not so much a highjack as an insurrection. Treason I say! How could anyone compete with WoodyBoater, hell Matt already has CCABC on the ropes. No thanks. Must be a lapstrake guy attempt at breaking the ranks here. Still trying to get that ‘Lapstrake Rules” off, what did you guys use?

  2. RiverRat

Sorry Rick for the bad penmanship, it just seemed like the thing to do. I get a little giddy around wood boats and want to share my love of lapstrakes. And that is even before I started downing cans of varnish. It goes down so easy.

  3. RiverRat

By the way that header is like a loud banging noise after a day of over indulgence.

  4. Jim Staib

Who left me out by the fire?? All I remember is burning the last of the 20’Riv and an open bottle of Jaeger. It must have spilled because it is EMPTY. What’s with the Bayliner carcasses in the fire? From what I remember the party was a success. There’s a touch of fresh snow on the ground and some fog in the head. Must be the weekend!!

  5. Mark Edmonson

looks like alot of friends showed up. A little tired, but off to the shop to sand varnish, sand varnish ….

  6. Randy Rush-Captain Grumpy

Matt-Texx: Whats the story on the header, drunk storage facility operators?

    • Randy Rush-Captain Grumpy

Laughed so hard over that one, I have to change my depends!

    Dear Matt and Texx

Thank you so much for such a lovely party! Your hospitality was eclipsed only by your delightful guests and the excellent buffet.

No doubt the Twitterverse is abuzz this morning with all those young professional party goers (missed you, Kim – maybe next time) wondering why they hadn’t been invited.

Alan and Jimmy must have had boats to build (or perhaps songs to sing), but perhaps they could be included at a future event. I’m pretty sure Margaritaville is right next door to WoodyBoaterville – and parrotheads are always up for a good party!

One final question – what’s the dress code for the New Year’s Bash – formal or semi-formal?

    Thanks again for your hospitality!

    • Rick

If you’re using a public computer it’s probably best to keep your apparel on. In the privacy of your own abode………

  8. Al Benton

Someone said they dragged me out of the closet but I sure don’t remember that! All I remember is dreaming about having one more of Lilly’s special martinis built with lactose free cows milk carefully stirred, not shaken and wondering why I was wrapped up in a Riva towel.

    Good Morning Gang!!!

  9. Steve Franchini

Brian didn’t know I was hidding in the bow of Skeeto. I woke up this morning next to this glass boat that is upside down with a bright light inside. I sure am enjoying the light show on the ceiling coming out of the pin holes. Now if they would only stop spinning. Maybe I’ll just stay here a little while longer. Must have been a great party!

    • Jim Frechette

Matt and Texx may still have virtual hangovers so I will jump in. The picture is from May 6, 1965 after a tornado struck theMinnetonka Boat Works storage barn. It can be found in The Bob Speltz book, Volume III, page 22

  10. anonymous

Having a hard time remembering my name. Vaguely remember doing chocolate syrup shots.

  11. m-fine

Suck it up and walk it off ya light weight wimps! Next party starts in 3 hours and this ones not virtual!

  12. Texx

Chad, Philip Andrew is getting close so we may have to round up the boys for a small after-party up at the lodge when Philip arrives.

Ask Jim to get the fire started and I will run in to town for some more shrimp… (We may have to hurry, earlier today the Ocean called to say they were running out of shrimp…)

    • Rick

We’re out of Bayliners for the fire can I just throw on an Owens. They’re only built slightly better, well maybe they aren’t but all that plastic was giving my marshmallows a funky taste.

      • Rick

I have to apologize, my Grandfather had 2 boats the Owens was actually a wonderful boat. I should have said Broadwater. My bad, it must be the hangover combined with burning Bayliner fumes.

    • Jim Staib

I’m UP!! It’s dark out. Is it morning or night? Re-stock the jaeger. Forgot NZ is a day behind. Phil should be here soon. God those Bayliners stink when they get burning good. What should we kindle the fire with next??

  13. Jack Schneiberg

I’m sorry I missed the party. I was in that damned tax class getting bored to death. It looks to me like a lot of “hair of the dog” is in order

The Century guys all wound up in Manistee at the old facotry site and really did have a ball – except for those who fell in the Manistee river and got swept out to sea (Lake Michigan) and one who got swept all the way “down under” (see post above). Imagine that; a glass Century made it all the way to “down under”.

As for the header shot: that’s kinda how my stomach must look like today – ’cause that’s how it feels.

There oughta be a law – and probably is!!!!!

  14. John Rothert

I came home from boating and read this thread…..
next to sun on the sea….it made my day!
