Beating the Summer Heat Up In Maine – Thanks Troy.

????????????????????????????????????

Lily is a natural and quickly learned the relaxing art of piloting with her feet.

During the past two summers our friend Allen Miles has brought his family to the Miles family home on the Coast of Maine in June, from Austin Texas, to try to escape the summer heat.

Now if you know anything about Coastal living in Maine, you know that June can be a little chilly. Some consider it to be a Winter month. I have heard it said that Maine is one of the only states in our great nation where you may actually be able to use your snow blower and your lawn mower on the same day, but I digress.

Last year after staying for some 4th of July festivities Allen said to me ” think June might be too early to come to Maine." I don”t care what you have heard about Texans, I can attest to the fact that they do catch on after a bit. This year Allen, Kelly, and John John arrived in Maine on July 15th for a week of bliss before traveling to New York city to attend a wedding and meet up with their other son Ethan.

The day after returning to their retreat in Maine the Miles friends, the Bruce Family, arrived from North Caroline and boy did they bring the heat with them. Tuesday evening in the sweltering heat Sandi and I were offered dinner out if we were willing to chauffer this 9 person party to a local waterfront restaurant. Well I may be a little on the slow side, but if you offer me dinner out and a boat ride on a BEAUTIFUL summer evening you can be assured that I will be on it like white on rice.

Rob and Gretchen Bruce enjoy the ride on AB.

Of course we took the whole crew to The Osprey, one of our favorite restaurants in the area.

The timing was perfect as we finished dinner just before 8pm since I had a CCABC Board Meeting to attend. It only makes sense to me to attend a Chris Craft board meeting while motoring up the river in a 1958 Constellation.

Another beautiful evening in the ANE!

My friend Doug P says that the perfect numbers for any cruiser are 6 for cocktails, 4 for dinner, and 2 for sleeping. I would never argue with Doug’s thinking, but 11 for a dinner trip to a restaurant was a wonderful way to BEAT THE HEAT this week.

I’m not really sure what was going on here, but I am pretty sure Rob enjoyed the cruise.

Believe it or not when Sandi and I went out on Wednesday evening in Gottago after a 90+F day we actually had to put a fleece on during the ride home.

You guys have so many options to cruise from your location that I would have trouble making a decision where to go but any place you choose would be great.
