Sunnyland or bust. YNOT Yachts will be there

Holy Crap! Are we actually flirting with the big 30 day countdown? YES! My brain is not ready, but my heart is. My brain see’s cold weather and work, a boat tucked away or in the shop. Yet my soul is already out on the lake, cruising through the Dora Canal and feeling my face go numb with one to many at the Palm garden on the dead river.

Hang’n out at the Palm Gardens with our Mystic Brightworks pals

OK, One is too many for those that know me, not a drinker, but lets just say the boat weighs more on the trip back. Just think in what is the blink of an eye in the cosmic sense, you are already getting a sun burn and wearing your new 2017 Woody Boater T shirt. (Stay Tuned)

Bring your small Johnson!

So make sure you are all signed up, got your room reserved. We stay at the Best Western In Tavares. Its clean, nice and so many folks stay there there is always a ride to and from. The one huge tip we strongly urge you to do is , SHOW UP EARLY! The fun starts the weekend before the show with the Vintage Boat Races and the week just keeps going, and you get to enjoy the area with out the throngs.. OK throng of visitors. Sorry no thongs which is a little more East at the beach. We just get a Throng, which is a tand smaller and more fun than Throng”s” which just gets bad. But good people watching. Which leads me to , COME ON BY the tent.

Matt, I remember last year when I roped over that Johnson! My son and I were heading out and we saw you jump up with the camera. The boat is the oldest known (1948) surviving Swift, made in Mt. Dora by Joe Swift who later built hydroplanes that were very popular. Can’t wait to get my new WoodyBoater T-shirt!

We need more antique outboards making noise at Tavares!

I would spend Feb, March, and April down there if I could work it out. Maybe Harrisons have a spare room I could live in.

Is this the kind of stuff you are adding to the swag store this year?

Troy – Harrison’s probably don’t have room for all of us but based on a recent experience of my daughter, I was thinking of looking on airbnb for a convenient several bedroom house for a group of us to share. We might even get it a day or two early so we could volunteer to help set up.

I simply can’t do the weekend before, but I will arrive Wednesday afternoon if the weather, airlines, and FAA are all agreeable. I too will be at the Best Western. I was going to sleep on a pontoon in the parking lot, Texx style, but I got a cheap flight so I decided to splurge on an actual room this time.

m-fine; with the looming BACON SHORTAGE!!, OMG!, will you be able to survive until Mt. Dora? Perhaps stocking up on bacon futures? We wish you well in these trying times!

I’m glad you made it clear no thongs. First of all I’m not sure there is a men’s thong store near me and second………it wouldn’t be a pretty site.

Yup. We were on the fence and he nudged us over talking about the cruise. That makes the lengthy drive from Wisconsin worthwhile.

Roberta, please let us know about your boat. My previous question ended up under the wrong boat picture.

I’m ready, just so there isn’t two feet of snow on the ground when I have to drag that thing out of the pole building.

The boat is a Glen L Torpedo I built from plans. It’s 19.5 ft long powered by a 330 hp Crusader V8. The hull is cold molded Okoume ply over mahogany framing.
