It’s Gonna Be 70 Here In Virginia Today. Is It Worth It?

sunset-2016-5

Have you been outside? It’s like Spring out there It does this stuff in Virginia, it can warm up and then drop you like a hot tater. Which its expected to do by Thursday. 38… So here is the debate. Is it worth it? To take the boat out, and know you better winterize that sucker fast? Or just dream about it and then write a story on your website asking if you are alone? I can add this, if it was Saturday, it would be a NO BRAINER! Now, the fact that I don’t have a brain, makes the no brainer choice kinda obvious.

We have done it before! Last Spring it was far far colder

But are you gonna go Woody Hookie Boating today? If you do share please, we all need a good splash of ice cold lake water to wake us all from our winder doldrums. If not, lets just share summer memories, and maybe, just maybe, it will be like being on the water for a moment.

I find myself thinking “There’s no ice on the lake… I should be out there”! Good thing my boat is in remote storage.

The water here is very stiff so no boating for quite some time maybe near the end of march some place else.

Out here in the frigid West, we are blanketed in 4″-24″ of snow!! There won’t be any boating on the wet edge this week… Instead I will spend my lunch breaks relaxing on brand new boat trying to use my imagination to cover the sight and smell of aluminum boat production.

Snow and ice here today, but in just 33 days the tarp will be off and we will be pulling out of the driveway headed to Dora! Yahoo!

Heck I am trying to decide if it is worth going out on the roads in with my truck in this weather, let alone going boating.

It has been a weird winter in west Michigan, 50’s in January, 45 today, no ice on Spring Lake, and the Great Lakes are only 8% ICE COVERED.
Hope we have nice weather this weekend, for our chapter members hauling their beauties to Grand Rapids to get ready for the indoor boat show the following weekend.
One of my many summer memories to make me think of warmer days.

Why can’t Jim Staib sell me a heater blanket for my KL that I can leave on the engine so I don’t have to winterize and just pull the blanket off and go boating and then come home and put it back on ?

Neighbors up the street have a few woody boats, one of which is 16′ lapstrake with modern outboard power. Told me it’s the early/late season boat, so they can get out on the lake before the inboards are in the water & after they’re put up for the winter. I think that’s a good plan. 61 here in northern KY today, but windy & raining. 48 tomorrow & 30 Thursday!

I tried to convince the Boat Launch Supervisor that today would be a good day for some Woody Boating. But she says the snow on the launch ramp might present a problem….

8″ of snow in the yard – Guess I’ll sit in one of the boats and make “Vrooom Vrooom” noises while I contemplate the repair on the 327Q I blew up this summer on our cruise… 🙂

65 and cloudy in So Cal today. No boating but i guess if your working on the boat that sort of counts right. Getting ready to pull the Buick 225 out of the Lancer. Couldn’t find a decent pair of heads to swap out so going with a full remanufactured engine and it will end up costing about the same.
