UPDATE – WECATCHEM Is Getting Close! Stinky, Well, Still Stinks!

OK, thats not funny! Doors open? Really?

Well, yesterday didn’t seem to flush out “Dim” So here is another WECATCHEM and Stinky update. Dim, here is a Katzs Marina link just for you! Yes KATZ’S MARINA. Who by the way has been killing it! The work is amazing. Where you ask? KATZ’S MARINA!

Stinkys Stock “H” with an Aluminum head has been gone through by VanNess. Valve job and electrical work. She runs perfectly. Also Katzs Marina re wirred the entire boat. SAFETY FIRST

WECATCHEM is going back to Original Red interior.

Looking great! Alan, Henry, Jose all have done some amazing work!

Her bottom has fresh paint and getting ready for her two tone boot stripe.

Hell YA!

If you are familiar with Katzs and haven’t been there in a while, the work is amazing, and the place is a well run machine. Henry’s finishes are jaw dropping, and now they are focusing on the interior. Next step is the gauges from Kocian Instruments and the Chrome from Graves Plating. They are expected in next week. Even her clock is done. The total amount of work is amazing, basically everything but a new bottom. Which she already had and a rebuilt W Engine from VanNess Engineering.

Even in the “Dim” light Jimmys reflection is perfect!

Ohhhh ya. We are pushing to make it to the Lake Hopatcong show in a couple weeks. The boat is ready ish!

Even the Wicker Sisters are “REDy” Those are small cushions on the back to protect the finish. Chairs have a couple coats of varnish sprayed on them.

Please post all your invoices for the work, proof of payment, and your last 5 years worth of tax returns. Might as well post your personal medical records as well. Your readers need to know.

Be careful for Dim impersonators today. They may show up.

Got a new old propeller installed this week. Can’t wait to get out and try it at WOT.

I am working on developing several of my own multiple personalities. No need to impersonate Dim.

With all the plugs, I thought I was watching NASCAR! This is giving me a headache…I need some goody’s headache powder!

Thanks for keeping us entertained! Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Without plugs, our boats would sink!

Both look great. Big Stinky fan. Hope you bring it next March to the Florida show. What’s the story on the CC “H”. Did CC make a “H”. Thought their 16 ft Special Race Boats had two engine options, a “K” or a “KB”. Interesting battery. Is it a 6 or 12 volt.
Can’t find either “Dim” or “Wit”. Probably lost in their”bilge” locking for “Nits” to pick

The very early Racers had H’s. Stinky is the 25th one made in 1937. I don’t think the Aluminum head makes a whole lotta difference other than they are prone to problems and very commonly replaced. I have yet to see what the little stinker will do when pushed since she never ran well. The engine had been rebuilt back in the day and was VERY clean inside. I wonder when that was done, if they beefed it up a tad. These guys liked to race her. So we will see and will make a fun story. Even though she has fiberglass on her, that may be about the same weight as soaked up?

Fantastic work like this makes me want to hide my user boat.
Is it typical to paint the cooling water return pipe?

Love the chairs, but by the way, I saw some that are 80% as nice and appropriate at Lowe’s yesterday (oops is that a promo…need I disclose something….).

This is my second attempt at posting because the DIM wit that is the Captcha can’t do the math…..

or maybe Matt thinks its ME and is messing with the math to block me?!!! Conspiracy……
Nah….I actually know full well who it is.

I think I talked to Dim last night and I don’t think that you will not hear much more from him and if you do I think it will be positive. I don’t agree with any of the banter on either end, but I think that it’s over with. I see both sides. We talk about affordability and top notch work and the expense of both. Some guys try hard and get their ass handed to them in judging and restorations and others have the connections to make it perfect. One or the other is not good or bad it’s just life. Sometimes a pocket full of money will whip the pants off plain old hard work. Matt is in charge of the webpage and he can pick and choose as he wants and rightly so. Matt does a hell of a job and I often wander how he has the energy to keep it going. I am one to comment often, but lets leave the person alone and move on to some other topics as some mentioned yesterday. Who knows maybe that person can share something positive and surprise us all in the future. I have seen other not so positive comments in the past from others. I think that Matt has mentioned in the past that the banter is part of the fun and we all make some mistakes at times. Keep at lets get some wood wet! Lifts going in today.

Thanks Phil, yes you are 100% right, and through out WBs short history , there have seen many Dim’s. Dim is always welcome and as you can see, I think a lot of folks are also having fun with it. This is a safe place to have a negative POV for sure. But to attack sponsors that are trying to help is counter productive. I have been in a business that can be brutal at times. OK all the time, and if you don’t see the fun in it, then you die! Literately from stress. This site was created, heck, the entire brand of WoodyBoater was created to embrace that fun, mindless spelling, off topic comments, and yes, even Dim. I was hoping Dim, would come out and play as Dim. Then its more fun that way and we all know from where Dim comes from.

This comment is just to register the opinion that WERACEM is a better name than Stinky. Whomever suggested the companion name to WECATCHEM had a brilliant idea.

Neither Katz’s nor Van Ness can be praised or blamed for the misnaming of this otherwise fine boat.

Nevertheless, credit should be given for restoring/preserving the craft, regardless of the letters applied to the transom.

You’re boat is looking so amazingly perfectly restored, how will you possibly be able to use it and beat on it again? Will you be the overprotective/trailer queen owner or will you be the hell with it, let’s get the future patina going? If she were mine I’d probable be considering the revolving custom climate controlled glass case. Fantastic preservation of one of Chris Crafts finest designs!

Hi Matt. Thanks for all you do. I would like to volunteer my beloved KatieAnn to be the first thing that Wecatchem bumps into and leaves a mark. I will always put extra varnish on it. It would be an honor to help you through this difficult time in the future. Long live woodyboater and the crazy people who live there. You are a true American letting people have their say. Thanks again.
