Happy Fathers Day – Live-ish From St Michael’s MD

St Michael’s Perfection!

This Fathers Day weekend started on Friday right after work, we ran up to Lake Hopatcong to visit the “Good People” of Lake Hopatcong and had a fun time drooling all over WECATCHEM and sniffing Stinky. Report on that later. Oh that glorious chrome. Anyway it was a drizzly day and like the fair weather friends that we are, I split Saturday morning to run down to The St Michael’s Show in Maryland to see some of the fun. And it delivered. I arrived at 2pm and the place was sunny, bright and full of energy. The Chesapeake ACBS sure knows how to put on a great show.

Very nice Whaler in a perfect setting

I also stopped by to see Reedville pal and fellow Woody Boater Eric Zelmen give a talk on interiors. But turns out Eric was in Europe and just got home. Maybe we can have him help us at home. Anyway, I know you want photos, so photos you all shall have. Thanks to the “good people” at St Michael’s for putting this show on early!

The show had a wide variety of fun classic boats

Ebby Dupont just keeps blowing me away with the quality of his work, and a fantastic guy as well.

This is what St Michaels is all about. History from many decades and passions

The Chesapeake bays finest

Fantastic Century Coronado.

Amazing clouds and the setting is perfect

Folks from all around the area come to this regional event – This is the largest show in the Mid Atlantic !

All sorts of cool stuff is here in all sorts of state of completion. I love that folks bring stuff like this to shows.

Familiar friends all here

I love these and one day!

Classic Glass. I will add that the Interior in this makes it. When restoring your classic plastic consider very energized interiors.

Lots of catching up! I LOVE this Whirlwind. made in the area

Color! Thats a 1946 Jersey Skiff and very rare Century.

Whats the Chesapeake bay without a Chesapeake bay Retriever doing what they love best!

Inside the Museum is amazing and worth a visit even if there isnt a show.

Very good Field of dreams. Very strong!

Yeah! These manikins kinda creep me out. HA

Great antique dealers

Great Boats

Thanks again to the Good People of the Chesapeake Bay ACBS chapter for putting this event on every year!

No going boating for me today. Family obligations with thunderstorms mixed in between. Happy Father’s Day to all fathers out there.

BTW, I like that Whirlwind with the Evinrude Twins. Those old outboards had style.

Same forecast here. While it was fun to head for the ramp at WOT to beat the lightning I don’t want to make a habbit out of it.

    Happy Father’s Day

Thought I saw you on one of the docks but figured, no he’s in Lake Hopatcong; you do some serious travel in pursuit of your passion, awsome! I see Sweet Mahogany just made it into the background of your last photo 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and for the coverage. It’s a fun show and we’d love to have you come and bring a boat next year!

One small correction on the photo of “Hoppy” – it’s actually owned and was restored by Frank Hopkinson and was our ” ACBS Best of Show – Restored” winner this year. Ebby is still a great fella and restorer though!
