Live-sh From Lake Como – A Day On The Lake.

A wonderful church high up on a mountain.

As part of our adventure out on the lake, we also were able to capture some of the beautiful homes and sights from the water. We stuck around the center of the lake and also took the ferry over to some other towns.

You get the picture -You can see Bellagio is right next to my finger, and Riva is down on the lower left of the map, Dongo where we go today is in the upper left.

The Ferry boats zip across the lake all day

The general feeling here by our group is that Varenna is the perfect spot.

Varenna

The hotels in Varenna are small and very nice. This is where Queen Victoria stayed. This is the other side of Varenna.

Bellagio is very touristy, with lots of large hotels and a ton of shopping. But crowded, and Mennagio is really a locals town, you feel a little like you are in there back yard. Which is fine, if you want to live there. But for us, Varenna is a perfect blend of home, and Okay to be a tourist. Although I will add, that the lake is a very very international affair.

Bellagio is a very fancy affair.

The snazziest Taxi, Limo of them all. Looks new and a Committi Version. This was parked at the Pink Hotel with the Green one. Here is there website

A very cool outboard started by us way out on the lake. I had that lense cranked.

I need a larger lense

But he was having fun for sure

Today we are going to drive over to Dongo and visit Davide at Glistenti Boats and then drive some more, eat some more, and drive some more. Yes its a tough gig for sure.

The shop at Glisenti Boat Restoration. We hope to do that report on Monday.

You can take sea plane tours.

Cool water falls feeding the lake

Beautiful small Villas

Bigger Villas

Even snazzyer villas

XXXL Villas

James Bond Villas

Star Wars Villas

Needless to say, this is a major film location for some very extreme imagery. Including now Woody Boater!

There are all sorts of small intimate spaces that create beautiful moments.

Including the bow of the boat.

On a slow boat ride past perfection

Its hard not to get into the spirit

Yup, on the dam phone!

But history is still very alive. This is a wonderful old Como boat

Of course we stopped and had a wonderful lunch. Amazing how some Salami and a piece of bread can be so good!

Stay tuned tomorrow for more LIVE-ish from lake Como

This has been a great series of articles. I think Matt should travel to lakes around the world more often!

No story until noon today. I was getting worried you dropped your IPhone in the drink or Suzy threw it off a cliff. Glad as is well. Enjoy!

Once again great photos. We loved Varenna. The tall steeple is the church where we went to mass on Easter Sunday 2015. Rick Steves could take lessons from you. I got the best Italian meal of the trip in Varenna. Drink some good wine and Moretti there and enjoy.
