A Woody Boat Wedding On Lake Hopatcong.

The Bride arrives

Thanks to fellow Woody Boaters Bob Kays and Bob Rice for sending us in these fun photos of a Karla (Bride) and Daniel Bentson (Groom), being delivered to the Yacht Club on Lake Hopatcong for there wedding. Using Classic Boats set the tone for sure and hopefully some of that love got soaked into the wood for good. Here is the report from the bride, Karla!

Here comes the groom!

Karla wrote the following:
Dan and I both grew up on lakes, him Culver Lake and I on Lake Hopatcong, so we both envisioned getting married on the lake. Dan proposed on the lake and we decided we would like to get married at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club. A couple days after getting engaged, Dan and I were at a boaters appreciation party at the local Nautique dealer. At the party, we met Bob Kays – a wooden boat owner on Lake Hopatcong. We told him how we envisioned getting married at the Yacht Club and that we wanted to arrive by boat.

Bob and the Groom

Bob suggested that he and his friend Bob Rice own Chris Craft wooden boats and that they would kindly drive Dan and I to our wedding on their boats. We had our wedding party arrive on two pontoon boats and walk down the “aisle”. Bob Kays then brought Dan to the dock aboard his woody, Relax, where Dan was met by his parents to walk down the “aisle”. Then, Bob Rice brought me to the dock aboard the Lieutenant, where I was greeted by my parents to walk down the “aisle”. In my own basis option, I think the wooden boats allowed us to have the coolest wedding entrance.”

Hopefully she had better taste than to wear orange boat shoes!

Congrats to the couple and thanks to the Bobs for promoting the lifestyle with style.

Leave it to a wedding to bring the wood out but a pontoon boat for the wedding party??? What happened to all those wood boats in Bob’s calendar??
Best Wishes to the Bride and Groom.

The pontoon boat is like a bridesmaid dress. Intentionally ugly to provide contrast to the beautiful bride and her mahogany steed and make them look even more beautiful.

Thankfully neither woody had to be towed to the venue after a breakdown. I love it when a plan comes together,
