APPDATE- The App Is Up For Android!

,

A huge thanks to the 400 or so folks that signed up right away for the new WoodyBoater app, and an even bigger thanks for your feedback. We were able to weed through around 20 or so issues, mostly on the Android front. The good news.. we hope is that we have addressed many of the issues. From this point on, we want to see how folks are using the app as a tool. Right now over the winter it may not be much help except for seeing where other Woody Boaters are. We have added a bunch of new fun places to eat and sleep on the App per many of your recommendations. So a huge thanks there as well. The app is only as good as if its useful. We are really hoping that the Lake Dora event will put the usabilty to the test.

lots of new places to visit

So how is it going so fare? We can see that the chat feature is a dud. And we will be making some changes to that, so that it can email you direct, vs just a ping. We now have some dashboards so we can fix stuff. We are going to be removing some of the folks that have wound up in Falls Church for some strange reason.

It creates an odd cluster and if you resign up, it may correct that. So if you are one of the folks that finds yourself here. I am not sure if you entered in Falls Church as your address, or its a glitch. This one has folks here a tad confused.

We are planning on a new upgrade in the coming months based on the spring use patterns. So use it when you can. And feedback is always appreciated. We are all designing this together based on needs. Like most of WoodyBoater, its a far better place to be when you are here.

HERE IS THE WAY TO FIX YOUR ANDROID ISSUES.

1. DELETE YOUR ANDROID APP!  NOT IPHONE!!!!!

2. GO TO ANDROID STORE AND FIND WOODYBOATER

3. RELOAD ANDROID APP

Thats it, try it out. For those of you with an android you will now be able to join the apparty!

    Ok
I was quick go go to my app store and found nothing. Then realized I was on my kindle fire so switched to my Galaxy and downloaded WB app and signed in and gave permission to access my location and then clicked on Explore and found myself in Falls Church, not Nashua.

Matt: Now that it has been explained, I’ll go by the Android store, and see if they have the WoodyBoater app and if not I’ll ask them to order one and help me put it on my phone so I can keep track of everybody.

I thought the chat was a great idea… But, I tried it and never got a response. So, I figured it either wasn’t working or, the person I contacted didn’t want to chat with me…. again, a feature like this would be more useful in the active boating months.

Hey Mat, this is great. Thank you very much for all your efforts. I’ll try to use it as much as possible. I’ll spread the word to our New England Lyman Group friends. Thanks!

I have an I-phone 6. I have never been able to see the recommended places so after reading today’s story about restarting an Android, I thought maybe restarting an I phone might help me. I deleted my app and then “bought” it again. I tried signing in but my email name was already taken. I guess by me. I thought that maybe I had forgotten my password so I hit the “forgot password” and received a message that instructions would be sent to my email but that never happened. I have another email account I rarely use so I signed in under that. I was able to see the recommended places. I then looked at the map but could not get out of it. I shut down the app by swiping up. Then I signed in again but could no longer see the recommended places. Just a spinning circle.

I think what you are doing is a great service and I am commenting not as a complaint but in the hopes that this information might lead you towards a fix. Thanks!

I did find the message regarding resetting password in my spam file so that does seem to work. I should have looked there.

When I explore, the map shows where my phone is and not my location of my home. It does show my city and state when I click on the icon, but clips the picture and description. Is that normal?

It doesn’t like landscape mode and really doesn’t like when you rotate the phone up and back. Usually I can see the pictures in portrait mode.

The location it uses for you is the location your phone reports by GPS, not the address you enter. I wonder if the reason for all of the Falls Church people is because their phones did not have a good GPS signal when they launched the app. That can happen when indoors or when you shut off location services.

I reloaded. On the map, which I couldn’t see before, the only thing it shows is my phone location as a tiny little red dot. Nobody else shows, no dining or anything else. But I was able to fill in profile info and load a photo of my boat.

The header photo cracks me up! Old guys with older boats with the latest technology in the palm of their hands. Now drop those dang phones in the bay and go for a nice relaxing old woody boat ride.

I put in a picture of my boat in the profile and something got put in the description in a foreign language that I didn’t put in there? Not sure how that happened and I don’t seem to be able to edit it.

That is Greeking, Is there as a placement. We are working on a way to delete a boat and start over. You have to enter some sort of description. There are glitches. Keep testing. We have also found that on the map if you go to wide, the loading of people all over the world is a bit much. We are also working on 2.0 a complete new app now. Sorry about all this little stuff. It takes months to do this and we are trying new stuff.
