Clayton Sausage Day!

,

Like Game of Thrones Meets Horace Dodge

Today we feature some of the non related goofyness of Clayton. Now it all has a theme I suppose, like a good sausage. Sometimes you can tell more about how a place is, by just the odd stuff. And trust us, Clayton delivers the smiles.

The goofyness, see I wasn’t kidding! I can’t make this stuff up!

And, its for sale. The guy that pulled that one off naming after his wife is a GOD! And it looks like Elizabeth has been down this road before.

Copper lust!

Steve Sturtz captured Kent doing his thing.

Lyman still in her original shipping crate

This is the best cleat EVER!

Buttercups sista is in a museum. Oh boy!

I have seen these on eBay! Maybe I should bid

This was our next door neighbor. YIKES!

Very cool graphics – Antique Boat America

Very very cool way to hold down a paddle

Someone thought this was worthy of making once.. ONCE

More Canoes than a Boyscout camp! Walls and walls of canoues.

Flea market goodies. Great graphics, but a little far gone for me

Filming Andys cool original Utility – BTW it won Most Original.

If two half’s make a hole? Would it still float with a hole in it. Whole?

Fun names all around

Best Gauge panel. Century sure had fun with graphics. – Antique Boat America.

Thanks so much to the entire Antique Boat Museum gang. What a great crew. And thanks so much to all that stopped by and said hi. Its great to see everyone and even more fun meeting new folks! Stay tuned for the Big Lake Tahoe reports. This year we have multiple reporters on the scene. This is always a very busy 3 week time here trying to juggle two huge shows coast to coast. But thanks to our fantastic reporters, it looks easy.

What about the big show in the middle with pre events starting four weeks from now. Three out of five pre events are sold out. Over 140 boats and hundreds of WoodyBoaters registered for the show. The Michigan gang are working hard getting everything ready for the event. Livish WoodyBoater reporting and a great week in Port Huron starts on Sept. 9. See you there!

I think the landing craft might be named after his fourth wife who happened to be the second one named Elizabeth.

The hydro is a Jacoby. The original logo is on the side near the transom. We have one that was owned & driven by WNY’s Chet Webb. It is in its original state just as last raced to the B state championship back in the 50’s. It is called the Hellion. We displayed it at Clayton many years ago and it has been part of many Buffalo shows.

The Mermaid Figurehead on the Dodge Boats is awesome. There was a 28′ Dodge Triple with one at Boats on the Boardwalk last weekend and I’m sure there will be many more next weekend at Hessel as Dodges’ are the featured boats.

I found one made of aluminum. Still have it. Al Schinnerer casts his in bronze, as I suspect Dodge did. CQ

The very early mermaids (or sea nymphs) were cast in stainless steel, according to an ad in Motor Boating magazine. Dodge later went to aluminum. I cast mine in stainless steel.

That was my Lyman in the crate. Found in a garage in upper Michigan. I showed it for a few years, and then donated it to the museum.

Welcome my fellow sexagenarian. I won’t bother to define that term. I’m sure we’ll have plenty people here that will define it for you. Corrective closeup lenses are part of this aging process unless you had an ophthalmologist who did radial kerototomy (pre-lasik procedure) in 80’s and calculated presbyopia into the equation then gave me eye exercises to perform to avoid reading glasses. Best thing since contacts, much better actually. No glasses needed at 68.
