Port Huron Or Bust!

Busted!

Well, they made it. 280 miles in a 25 Sportsman. Marian E. one of Alex Watson’s dream boats and it’s crew of Woody Boater Boobs made it. And the crew was there in Port Huron to greet them. Ugh, I was jealous of the fun at the show, but this trip is a bucket lister for sure. What a fun time. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Thanks to Karen Harrison for capturing the moment of the entry to Port Huron.

I see a theme here? Troy? You watching? The Greeting!

Along the way. Oh boy!

We also mention, not that the trip wasn’t nutty enough. But there were “other” on board. Two additional passengers stowed in the rope locker. Bill and Delores Watson. They boated the area for many years and lived on be river. Going to give them a proper send off this weekend. They’ve been sitting around in my basement or my brothers garage too long.

See that little spec.

Coming into port

Here comes the welcome crew

Fellow Wood Boaters welcome our crew

Thank god for a fantastic Captain. Alex Watson was described as being an “Anus” so you know he ran a tight ship. Thank god they made it, could have been Mutiny On The Marion E.

I love it! What a great shot. Do I read into it anything? Troy?

“Lil Toot” smiling at the dock

LOVE LOVE THE BIG NUMBERS

Stay tuned for updates and more fun that I will not be having, but have to report on. This is torture.

We say Alex at the hotel last night and he was still smiling! When I asked him when he was leaving for the return trip he said she was going back to Hessel on a trailer. What the hell!!!

Don’t worry Matt, you aren’t missing a thing except the biggest fraud in ACBS history. It turns out “Boat the Blue” is actually on the BLACK river! Boat the Black just doesn’t sound as enticing does it?

I think someone should call a Dr, It looks like that bridge has been “UP” for more than 4 hours.

Matt: I think you, m-fine, and I should offer to take Marrion E back to Hessel for Alex.

I am still waiting on the Riva report there at Boat the Blue Black.

Mayer put those stars upon thars. My favorites were those he smeared all over the fuel gage. Made me laugh. Silenced the pre-trip fuel burn anxiety of our direction-barker, NR.

The solar powered dancing day of the dead guy was bought at a dollar store the day before departure. He sure didn’t dance during the fog we had for the first two hours of yesterday’s route. Just looked ghostly. 🙄

We still have grey skies over the BLACK river, but I think the sun will poke through soon and give us a little Mahogany Magic.

No issues, just jelously and 200 photos to clean up, thread a story out of them and so on. Was up at 5AM took some time. Dock shots are the worst. Need to be leveled, cleaned, highlighted. Large old men removed!

What a fantastic trip Alex! With a new bottom, these boats should be able to do anything. I would love to hear more of the details, as I am sure there will be a story soon.

I too took such a fun voyage. 250 miles from Manhattan to Annapolis; on the outside ocean route. Original bottom. No GPS. One storm, forced us in, we spent the night in an abandoned camper. Great adventure.

Alex, you are always doing fun things and all with a smile. We should get a few boats and do a tour from town to town in northern Michigan with our boats; maybe to Traverse City and back to Hessel?

I feel the hobby needs more of these sorts of adventures. This show, and other Michigan shows, as an example, do active things such as trips and parades. With proper publicity, it may have an effect on the younger people to join the fun!

Great Trip! The CC 25′ hull is perfect for those adventures. It’s Mayer’s birthday today, so I suspect there will be some fun shenanigans on (or near) the river today – get pictures! Happy Birthday Mike!

Congrats to the yooper crew! A great job, prepping the the boat, and navigating the waters. Nothing like floating a little Le Chenaux cheer down below. (lower Pennensla)

Damn but that was an impressive trip and accomplishment….I don’t know about the river names..but that trip would have left me BLACK AND BLUE….

Troy…. call me to crew on the return trip.

Hurricane missed us in Va….so far….spent last night aboard…no big deal…sorry for friends to the south….hang tough.

This has turned out to be the biggest ACBS International Boat Show ever. Out of 202 boats registered, 195 actually showed, beating the old record of 146 boats. It’s kind of overwhelming – so many boats!

Out of the 195 shown, I counted:

168 Wood boats of all types
2 Hybrid Wood/Fiberglass (both Chris Craft Silver Arrows)
23 Fiberglass boats of all types
    1 Aluminum
    1 Steel (Chris Craft Roamer)
Over 40 Cruisers of all types (being on the Great Lakes, boats can come in under their own power from anywhere in the world),which can’t be done when the show is on an inland lake.
    12 Outboard-powered boats

    Future shows:

2019: Alexandria Bay, NY (near Clayton, NY)
2020: Bay Harbor, MI (near Petoskey,MI)
These are both on the Great Lakes, also, so again, cruisers can come in.

    Little Blue is there.

I have been told that the Roamer is an aluminum version. I can’t say one way or the other myself as the only thing I know about cruisers is that they are ALL for sale.

Thanks for corrections! I was wondering if the Roamer was maybe an aluminum model. Hard to tell what’s under the white paint.

    Somehow missed the Mullins.
