Going Out For Some Color This Weekend?

It’s getting a little crispy cold out there. This could be the last gasp weekend for many? Some already. We here in VA are somewhat lucky that we have still some warm what the hell days coming. My end of season usually happens near the end of the month at our Oyster Festival at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum.

Ugh, oyster beds!

I go by boat and bring her home and tuck her away. Stinky is getting ready to make her trip to the apartment where she will remain for the winter, and Buttercup will be the center of attention this winter for a fun take advantage of warmer days.

Tucked away! WOW! Murry you know how to live!

The boathouse of all boathouses!

Are you gonna get out there? If so get some great shots. We need to have our annual last gasp week soon. Lets get this gasping started. Only 150 ish days until Lake Dora!!!! Woohooo ugh.. Is it spring yet?  Here are some shots from our 11 year history to inspire you!

From a couple years ago – Bob Kayss perfect 1957 Chris Craft Custom Runabout ‘Relax” headed out to enjoy the colors of fall.

One of my favorite fall shots from the very first last gasp week. I think this may have been the first shot we ever got. And says beauty can even be out of the water

Up here in Michigan most of the boats are pulled and stored and the docks taken out of the water to get ready for the long winter. Sucks but at least we don’t have hurricanes!

Well, for you all with boats put away, you can come down to Florida where it is still hot and help rake sea grass out of the house and yard. Wish I knew how to post pictures…The trash pile out be ghe roas is s long as the front yard and high as my head….Hurricanes are just something with which we must tollerate…. Even the interent is off & on…mostly off right now…

Rabbit is already tucked away in her boathouse for the long winter sleep. Too many fall weddings. Last year I had a two hour cruise on an 80 degree evening on the third weekend in October. That’s a rare thing up here in North Country.

Unfortunately, the good storage places fill up fast and we had to pull up the anchor early. But, it is s beautiful time of year for boating in Muskoka!

P.S. Murrys boathouse is a fantastic experience!!!

I was looking forward to some fall cruising but I had to winterize mine last weekend. It has already snowed twice here in Traverse City Michigan but nothing stuck yet.

Moon’Em was pulled and winterized last Wednesday after a nice cruise the previous day. I’ll tow it back to it’s winter berth in Rochester in the next few days.

It’s been a cold, wet autumn here in northern Illinois, so while I hoped for more at the time, this shot from just before I hauled her out on September 24th turned out to be our last gasp. That said, this time last year, my 1958 Lyman had a rotten transom, five missing ribs and hadn’t been in the water in 17 years. We got her finished and back in the water at the end of July and managed to get out 9 times in just over two months, so we can’t complain. Can’t wait for Spring!

As I said earlier, All motorized boats are pulled and winterised. Kayaks will work until it freezes.
