Mid Century Desk Boat! Cool?

Art!

Anything with the words Mid Century as a descriptor of art, makes is special. But its a fine line sometimes. Today on eBay  we found this cool Mid Century Art Boat. Now of course the photos are a bit confusing, so I did a little clean up to get the lines and how they connect together.

Cleaned up image

See. a tad confusing

So here is the question. Is this cool? Is it Mid Century or Mid Life in the basement art? At least its unique and different. not the typical exact style model. Its a gesture of a boat. And if you own a mid century home, then.. Here is your desk art.

YOU CAN BUY IT HERE ON eBAY

I would say more junk than cool. The eBay listing and sales pitch are more interesting than the product.

I think its kinda cool, I think the maker of this model was into building 1/24th scale slot car chassis from the mid 60’s when myself and friends would spend Saturday mornings at the hobby shop racing and working on them. They sold brass tubing there that looked just like this boat material tubing, It was great times. Matt you need this in your man cave.

Thats what I like about WB. Anything can spark a memory resulting in a good story. I remember those Hobby Shops Ronald. With the neat racetrack in the back. Life before video games.

We used to rewire the electric motors of slot cars with heavier gauge wire to the point where they would draw so many amps they would melt the hand held speed controllers. The good old days. Worked at the small track in Wickford Rhode Island back in ’67.

Floyd, I had forgotten about rewiring the motors and then using some epoxy to seal them back up. I don’t remember burning the controllers up though, we used high quality ones sold at the hobby shop that was a transparent light green and maybe red. I still have some of my stuff somewhere in my dads old tackle box I took over for my stuff, Some used wintergreen for traction control for the soft tires and some used lighter fluid, one day saw a boy use too much and a spark from the brushes caused his car to burn down lol Good times, I had no isea this was still going on today.
