Sausage Saturday

Thats a whole lotta Johnsons

Right now as you read this I am on a flight back to Virginia from Los Angeles. It’s been one of those years. I seem to be back and forth so much I am getting to know some of the flight attendents on a certain flight. And there is nothing like a good sausage day to clear out the odd ball half baked stories and be able to move on. So here ya go, lips and snouts of stories.. Mmmm sausage!

For some reason this showed up in my usual search for Vintage Boats on eBay. Dang!

Perfect name for a perfect moment in the morning

New Old Stock Boat stuff.

Mamie!

Thats one sad Key float

But did he have a Johnson?

Had this for a while and never sure how to use him.

Enjoy what looks like a warm Saturday from up here over the the Grand Canyon.

Boat the Blue was a great event. Thank you to all who worked hard to put it together. Most would have probably preferred blue skies, but that foggy morning reminded me of my time living in Michigan when the horizon would fade away in the fall, not to be seen again until April.

My memory is of four days in the engine compartment, not designed for 6’4″ 250 lb person, repairing my engine only to be told at 6 pm on Friday evening after pulling both exhaust manifolds, and then the whole top of the engine to replace an intake gasket, and then a broken starboard windshield that i fell into because my ass was whipped ,that “we are thought judging boats for this year”, even thought we had another full boat show day. My first and last International show I will attend. 1300 miles, a weeks hotel stay, cost of a staff person to handle things while we were gone at 1400.00. Where was the camaraderie then. Sorry but that’s the way the show left me feeling.

For some reason Massachusetts has turned into a tropical rain forrest.

Rain, followed by rain and then more rain.

I just want to get my varnish refresher coats done out in the portable garage.

Is that asking for too much ?

It just stopped raining here after two straight weeks. Now it is misting and drizzling. Should be heading your way soon.

You can tell that Johnson advert is OLD….

Who in the hell wears a long sleeve dress shirt and dress slacks to go fishing on a sunny summer day?

Gotta love how Grand Dad is busting his bad back lifting an engine wrong…while smoking a pipe near fuel….with his fishing poles laying on the deck (never do that unless you want to buy a new one after someone steps on them)

Or how his daughter or young trophy wife is standing up in a small boat…(did old guys even have trophy wives way back the then?)

Or how the Dude in the yellow shirt is again standing up in a small boat, holding up a big fish. I mean really, has he not watched a YouTube video where the idiot drops his catch into the drink?

And another well dress dorkus in the foreground…all dressed up but because he has a cap on, we are supposed to believe that he is just chillin’….

I wonder what the pic would look like if we brought it up to 2018?……

I guess that’s the charm of it. It was a different time. So were the boats at the time. Times change, always.
