I curse you Mr Teeter, now you have done it. Yesterdays mahogany Trilogy got me all worked up on owning a Triple. Is this the year of the tripple coming up? This past year I started eyeballing them. Something about the style of Stinky just matches up. UGH. I dont want to lust anymore. 6 boats? Really? Each one has a purpose, the triple? Now, I can say for sure I would want to chuck a V8 in it. No slow crap.

Warpath – A Kermath Powered 1927 26′ Chris-Craft Triple

I have often felt like these are the real hot rods of our passion. not sure why, but just have that vibe. And they are not big money in comparison to how cool they are. How much texture and detail they have.

1930 Dodge Triple – Tomorrow

The one issue I keep hearing is the third seat. Rumble seat type thing. But is that a bad thing? Kinda can be fun. I have sat in Stinkys Ball steamer seat. Yikes ! But for the triples, I have had wonderful rides.

Triple the fun. We will do a feature on “Semetry” the 1940 Triple at a later date.

Everyone has fun!- 1930 Dodge Triple – Tomorrow

A very nice triple with cool top. I love the tops on these dang things.

Oh ya!

Not a triple, but this model 99 is amazing – The Briteworks Mystic team is fantastic!

So this opens up an entire universe. There are so many different versions of a larger triple. I love the convertable top part as well. Ugh, its gonna be a long winter.

Lets see. I changed Panther from Sportsman to a Sportsman Special so can I now extend her to a triple? Yea no, just gonna have to convince the Mrs that she would be more comfortable in one.

Start selling mahogany colored hats with the “Make Triples Great Again” slogan on them…………..not that they’re not great now.

Just call Dana Mecum and write him a check for $365 k for Miss Arrowhead
Still time to test drive it here before the ice

So if you get a triple, how many boats have to spend the winter under the shed? Or will you add on to your barn? Or use Jimmy’s barn?

There is nothing like a triple. A U22 may be more practical but the elegance of a triple cutting through the water is unmatched. And the third seat? It’s amazing how many people ask to sit there and I’ve never seen a bored passenger in the back.

Ok….one time I had bored passengers in the 3rd seat, but it was past their bedtime

Matt, Our 28ft Hackercraft is a thrill to drive. So smooth of a ride no matter what the water condition, Add the sound and torque of the orginal Sterling motor at your fingertips and it’s hard to wipe the smiles off.

The usual comment from the mother in law seat in a triple. Kent Smith enjoying a ride in Grandpas Dream a 30′ Hacker.

I had the pleasure of getting a ride on the Millie B. The 30″ triple Hacker replica, owned by the New Hampshire Boat Museum. She is powered by a 454 Mercruiser. What a way to see Lake Winnipesaukee!! We were in the back. Got to hear the exaust, see the whole boat ahead, and feel the spray. What a ride!

Thanks for remembering Greg. Those of us who watched the”Fitzgerald” on the Lakes still have special memories of her. Let us always keep the Captain and crew in our thoughts and prayers.

I did not know him, but one of the crew members, Thomas Bentson, was from my hometown of St. Joseph, MI. His mom owned a dress shop, and found out about the disaster from an employee the next day. I cannot imagine breaking that news to someone.

Next time you visit Hessel, take a few hours to go visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point. Turns out there are THOUSANDS of shipwrecks in the Great Lakes. More than 100 lost in just one storm back in the early 1900s. The museum is a nice tribute to the Fitzgerald crew as well as those from other wrecks.

If you were to ask someone about mahogany speed boats I think a picture of a triple would pop up in their heads. They certainly are elegant. Edward

    Ha! Tripple. Ha!

If I had a nickel for each time Matt misspelled a word, I’d have enough moolah to actually purchase a Triple!

    Just gotta love him.

  11. Briant

Hey wait a second….why can’t someone make a second bit of boat that has a cockpit which attaches to my dual to make it a triple when wanted or needed?

Kinda like the Disco Volante in that old James Bond movie….

  12. mahoganymadness

Triples are great….with kids..toss em in the far back seat like a station wagon!!

  13. Texx

Big triple cockpit runabouts are fantastic. Riding in a old Hackercraft triple is like riding on a cloud. John Allen’s 30-30 (1930 30 foot Hackercraft) is a perfect example of a big triple, outstanding in every way.

Excellent article- nothing like the ride of a triple cockpit- I have a 22 ft Gar Wood for sale…..
