This is amazing craftsmanship of the highest level. I'm so thankful to have found his site ( and this forum as well). I was surprised that Charles is so young as well. That's great...it means he has so many years left to create a large portfolio of incredibly beautiful artwork

A few have asked how much it cost to have Alex's picture from this article custom made. This picture would be $2850 to create. Without the dock... less. Add a boathouse with the dock... more. It is the amount of detail that affects price. Simply taking the same scene photographed from a different angle can affect the amount of detail that is visible on the boat or the dock. Submit several photos for a quote and you will get a range of options back from me on what you could have done and how you can meet your budget.

Oh My! That is real craftsmanship. I'm picturing in my mind a portrait of Bay Lady hanging in the "Lighthouse" section of our river house, which is devoted to objets d'nautique (pardon my French).

Maybe it's better we keep it a secret.

Andrea has a condition that blocks out anything "boat" or boating related. It's like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

She often flinches when I say words that are totally unrelated. Words like; "VARNISH, CHROME, or even WATER" can aggravate her condition.

What I hope readers really take away from this article is not just the beautiful result of Charles's work, but the really fun and engaging way he involves the person who commissions the work in the process itself.

That was so unexpected for me, and provided me with two months of entertainment and excitement-building.

And those two months were February and March. Now if you've never been to Hessel in winter, let me assure you, ain't a lot to keep one's spirits up that time of year, especially knowing there's only 8 more months of winter left. (Well, at least it seems that way.) Ha.
