The Big Cruise for a Big Cause – Event Update
This is also a reminder that the Muskoka Lakes is the site of The Big Cruise or a Big Cause event on August 18th, 2012, with benefits going to the Canadain Cancer Society. The response to the event was huge and tickets sold out quickly, so the organizers added a second ship The Wenonah II which will join the RMS Segwun for the historic 100 mile cruise along with over 100 antique & classic boats. Tickets for the Wenonah II are still available. Also, our friend and fellow Woody Boater Kathy Rhodes from the Toronto Chapter ACBS wanted to let everyone know that they have now developed an on-line registration form to make signing up even easier.
This historic event is being organized by the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS) – Toronto and Manotick chapters, the Trent Severn Antique and Classic Boat Association, the Dispro Owners’ Club, and the Muskoka Steamship and Historical Society.

Update from Kathy Rhodes – Over 40 antique & classic boats have already registered for the event and we are more than half-way to our donation goal of $5,000!
Don’t miss your chance to be part of this historic event when over 100 vintage boats will join the RMS Segwun and now the Wenonah II as they recreate the famous 100-mile cruise on Saturday, August 18. To book passage on the Wenonah II, contact Christi Gardner at Christi@realmuskoka.com or call 705 687 6667.
Remember, every registered captain will receive a specially designed burgee as a memento of this event. The registration fee is $25. Port Carling lock fees have been waived in both directions thanks to the support of the District of Muskoka, and free security will be available at the Gravenhurst Wharf on Friday night.
Information regarding the Friday night BBQ, launching, lunches, and how passengers can donate to the Canadian Cancer Society will be forwarded following receipt of your registration.
To register your boat, simply click here. At the same time as you register your boat, you can make your donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Our goal is to raise $5,000, and in appreciation of your minimum donation of $30, a professionally mounted commemorative photo of the RMS Segwun and the Wenonah II surrounded by vintage boats will be mailed to you following the event.
