Mariah Make Over Almost Over!

, , , ,

Yikes!

With only 6 days left until Lake Dora, Mariah the U.S. Mail Boat is almost ready for her close up. The folks at Katz’s Marina are burning the midnight oil and calling marriage counselors hot lines. But for of us in the peanut gallery, its fun to watch and exciting to see such high quality work done at break neck speed. Here are the latest images just in.. Stay tuned for other classic boat news as it happens.

This shot came in yesterday early, by the end of the day the other shots were sent.. Amazing speed.. No detail missed or short cuts taken.

Jim Scott and I said those very words when we saw the boats. I love thayer and she is the icon, but this dumb mail boat kicks major patootie. Its got it all.. The crazy thing is that no one restores these things. It makes no sense.. We hope that Mariah will encourage folks to restore there Ravens

I can’t wait for Mariah to show up at my dock with a parcel full of Woody Weiners, a Sons of Varnish yaught ensign, and my larger 4×6 Sons of Varnish flag.

MARIAH looks beautiful! Can you pull some strings and get “Charlie” and “Chelsea” to make a guest appearance at the boat’s debut? Hopefully Chelsea still has her burgundy-colored bikini…maybe she could even do a back-flip off the float for us?

I saw Mariah when her new bottom was almost complete. It was way more complicated than I thot it would be. My hat is off to you guys that restore them!

The name and some assets were purchased by Allcraft. It will be interesting to see if they can do any better than Yamaha, Glasstream, General Marine, and whoever else has owned them and failed in the last couple of decades.

Now I don’t have anything against fisherman, but it would sure be nice if the new Century line would include something other than fishing boats.  Look at what worked for the ‘new’ Chris-Craft line.

C’mon Century, lets see some runabouts (deck & bow rider) with classic lines and quality.
