Mmmm That’s Some Good BBQ – Jackson’s BBQ In Union Georgia. What?
What? Do you really think I am going to waste an amazing reveal of the barn find of the year, on a Saturday? While everyone is at boat shows, and having fun. As promised though, we did find an amazing BBQ place in Union GA. Right off rt 20 about a 5 minute diversion into the wonderful past. Jacksons has been around since the mid 1970’s and doing it the same way just like real BBQ should be. No website! PERFECT!
The setting, perfect, the people running it, Perfect, the location, perfect. And the BBQ… Oh hell ya! They took the time to chop it right there, no pre made tubs of stuff. Fresh hot toasted bun, crisp cole slaw, and some true southern ice tea! Free refills as always. One of the magical treats of the South. Free refills of Ice Tea.
Yeah we know you are still frustrated about the barn find. We drove 12 hrs last night from Jackson Georgia witch is about an hour east of Atlanta. I just woke up and need to go through photos and today will be spent really looking at the find, including cleaning out what we bet is a bucket or two of, well lets just say, some sort of rodents sure are pissed now, cause there home is gone.
Jimmy looks way too comfortable at Jackson’s. Is he coming home with you? Tiger Lily was the home for a bobcat in the barn I found her in.
Looks like the original menu board from when they opened. Good prices too.
Well while you were driving yesterday some of us were out having fun. I think.
Maybe that is how they cam up with the idea of the cleaver propeller? I think you need to find deeper water.
Did you let Jaxon drive again? When that happens to me, I go to a place called Fine Wood Boats that usually has a good selection of replacement props. I think they are located really close to you.
All I remember is Jaxon was driving, I was in the back making a drink, something went flying by. Could have been a mozzarella stick, maybe a Milk bone next thing I know it felt like we were off-roading.
I didn’t do it. I plead the fifth. Besides he would have followed that coed in the kayak too.
Any oyster pots attached? YIKES!
Matt,
You could generate more hits on woodyboater if you keep revealing a close up shot of a part of the boat every few hours and let the puzzle / guessing game be played and you could still have a final reveal on Monday.
Right now I feel like a hungry rabbit with a carrot being dangled in front of me that I can’t reach. Ugh!
While playing, find some fried chicken & gravy…
Looks like there were alfalfa bales store in her.
How about a documentary film of the weekend with maybe a little bluegrass soundtrack. You could title it Deliverance.
Not to brag…Well I guess I am, but at least yesterday I guessed we’d find the best Bar-B-Q in Dixie and it looks like we know at least that much. I suppose tomorrow the story will be that most of the boat shows are winding down, announcing awards and participants driving home and not tuned to Woody Boater and we wouldn’t want to make such a bold announcement when no body was looking and we’ll therefore put it off until Monday.
Wilson,
Next time you go East on 98 to Perry the road will turn right to go South. About a mile down on the right is Goodmans BBQ. Bout as good as you will find.
16 racing runabout. Front cockpit, angled slats hold inner seat bottoms.
the real question is will it be ready for dora?
has katz already testing red, white blue, paint formulas?
cant send a red white blue boat to oz!
matt, i think the cheapest part of the find is done!
The BBQ thing sounds like a good idea. The drive to Georgia is a bit long so I guess I’ll smoke my own.
I think you’re still trying to keep us guessing but to clarify…its Union Point not Union and you’re on Interstate 20 east of Atlanta not State Rt 20 which is north of Atlanta 50 miles and I hope your find is not mired in chicken excrement like this GTO. Have fun in “the heat of the night”
Matt,
Our donkeys are so happy to be celebrities now. Here’s my email address.

Holy crap!
Please show us the GTO now.
