Rather than picking a new destination this week I’m going to add a little more about Lake Dora from my prospective. I was there and among other great things about the weekend I met Woody Boater for the first time. It was indeed a true pleasure to finally put a face to that name and to visit with him for a while (between live postings).

The Sunnyland Chapter, Antique & Classic Boat Society and the City of Tavares, FL were fabulous hosts to an absolutely amazing antique boat festival. History was made as the show was bigger and better than ever. Next year will be even bigger with more dock facilities and extended waterfront so start planning now to be there next March.

So, here’s my story in photos:

View of Lake Eustis from a ’42, 17′ CC Deluxe.

The Chris Craft Antique Boat Club HQ. These Cobras don’t bite.

A ride in Christopher Smith’s amazing custom 27′ Sea Skiff.

Sunday morning Worship on the Water.

The Beautiful Dora Canal.

Old Woody Boats. That’s what it’s all about.

Just do it, you won’t regret it.

Amen brother. I feel the same way. Now, I am waiting for all the kick backs from The Lake Dora convention folks.. Ha…. The simple fact is, this was an amazing show. I have been to a ton of them and this one just blew all the others out of the water.. PUN INTENDED. Clayton and Tahoe are the other two that are a MUST SEE> St Micheals is also darn good. With all that said though, this was amazing. It was also very cool that many of the Chris Craft, Century Jersy Skiff, Riva and other club folks got together in person. Hopefully we can do that again.

It was an incredible weekend, beginning with the Thursday arrival and ending with the Monday evening departure and not a dull moment between. With 5 rides on the water in 3 different boats and not one of them in the boat I towed to the show. Not bad for a quiet old man.
