If you are looking for your own Boat Pope Mobile, this is it. The Century Coronado. Even after the Pope has left town you will still be the coolest Woody Boater on the water. The mid 60’s were not kind to Woody Boats, but Century clearly was pushing the envelope in design. The Coronado was the flagship of the fleet. If you think that its all show and no go, you could not be more wrong. Were talking 426 Chrysler with duel quads. ohhhhhhh, if one barrel isn’t enough… how bout eight?

Now that is the 1960’s at its best. Here is your chance to keep the price of crude oil high… eBay item 280218204365 1966 Century Coronado

Hello, Just doing a web search for Century Coronados. That’s not a 66, at least the top is not from a 66. The top is from a 68. 65, 66, and 67 all had black tops. 68 was the last year for wooden boats and is the only one with a cream colored top. I own a 68 w/ corvette 427 big block, yes it’s the original motor.

It’s definately a 65 – 67. I can tell by the front seats. The 68 has swivel seats for the driver and passenger. No doubt a nice boat though. There were only about 60 boats per year produced in 65 – 68. The engine looks nice. Overall a nice boat. Here’s a link to a picture of my engine. Give me a few seconds to put the picture up there. http://evansit.com/68coronado.jpg

It does not matter if there is 1 person in the boat or 8, and another boat tied to it…. and the dock, when you pull the throttle, it GOES. Top speed is 50 MPH at 4000 rpms. The boat starts porposing above 50, I think the hull may need some work. But, that’s fast enough. The boat was designed to do 55. I getting ready to rebuild it again, but this time, I’m going to put a smaller carb and build it more for durability, than trying to get the most torque and hp. It does not need that much. I just like the way it sounds and messin with engines is a hobby of mine. I do computers for a living. I’ll post some pictures later.
