For the record, Woody Boat nut would be a more appropriate diagnosis. No really, like medication needs to be taken. Jim has had this condition since birth though, so I suppose there is no pill that will help. For the record if there is such a pill, I don’t want to take it, the side effects could be horrible, although more than 4 hours of wood is normal with out taking the pill in this hobby…. I met Jim on the phone last month right after Texx wrote the story on Sande Ace Boats. If you don’t think that the web can evoke emotion, you need to talk to Jim… Jim was beside himself. He had found one of his first wood boats on the web because of our story, and it was still in original condition. It started with a link on the story to Sande Ace boats that lead to Lady Clippers. And bingo, there was the boat. Jim then produced an image of that same boat, motor and all, Jim called the owner Tom Meeker and was able to re-connect with his lady clipper. Jim has been Woody Boating when it was just called boating… Jim has been kind enough to share some of those images with us here. This is Jim with his very first boat in 1951, Jim worked at the Lady Clipper Factory were he actually helped build this Lady Clipper-below. Yes the very same one on the web. Motor and all.In 1958 Jim sold the lady Clipper to purchase his very first Chris Craft. Here is the photo of the magic day of delivery. That’s Jim on the dock. Below is Jim’s Perfect 1958 Chris Craft Capri. Jim is a perfectionist beyond what that word means. you can see more images of “Rock n Roll HereIt’s not over, along with other boats like a killer Gar Wood Runabout that Jim has had he also currently is the proud owner of this Award winning Cobra. Our hats are off to Jim and his affliction. Guys like Jim make this passion we all share more fun. Thanks, Jim.
