Quick work Matt, I just sent those, we’re faster than than the local news station. That’s Bob sitting in his office, he cleared the rack just outside his office so he could watch the progress and get Paul on the road to Portland, OR as soon as possible. Great guy!

When you’re on the road you can always count on a fellow Woody Boater to help you when you’re in need. Just like they do on the water.

Should we get our own WoodyBoaterEmergency number? 911 is already taken.

  4. Texx

    Dial – U22
It will be patched through to Woody Boater HQ 24-7

As goofy as it sounds. The woody boater network helped find a repair shop. And made Paul and karen feel alone in a strange place. They hit the mother load with this location.. Al benton .. Wow..

Thanks for that. The launch of Woodyboatermobile X-2 is at T minus 30 seconds and holding. We’re awaiting technical input from the launch team at present. It has something to do with the vehicle’s tork converter. Earlier we were advised that the transmission was toast, it was replaced. Now this new technical issue has surfaced. Just what is a tork converter? Stand by for further word.

this makes me nervous! I have to drive my 28’er 1000 miles east in a few weekends!

  7. Texx

Al – The torque converter is a fluid coupling between the engine and transmission that allows the transmission to shift gears in an automatic transmission. So you can shift gears without shutting the engine off… All conventional automatic transmissions have them.

Several years ago when I started towing big hydros with a 1 ton pickup I learned something new, since I never had a need to haul 6000+ lbs of boat around before. I was told right up front to disengage OverDrive. On freeway hauls the OD plates are just not beefy enough to handle these kind of loads with constant up/down shifting.

You just never stop learning when there are boats involved, Randy
