The positive comments and e-mails have been pouring in to Woody Boater Headquarters responding to our “Lifestyle” story on Friday. Now, thanks to fellow Woody Boater Bob VandeVusse, it appears that the news of the “Woody Boater Lifestyle” has reached Italy – Resulting in a massive celebration in Venice.
Over 300,000 people were on hand for the celebration and thousands of people lined the famous canals in Venice. Were not sure who is the designer or manufacturer of the sleek wooden made express cruiser that Pope Benedict XVI used to navigate the canals, but it’s proof positive that the Woody Boater Lifestyle is catching on globally.
Just kidding of course… These images are from Pope Benedict’s recent two-day visit to the Italian city of Venice which included a wooden boat ride and gondola ride along the famous Venice canals. For Pope Benedict XVI, the best way to travel was by water after holding an open-air mass attended by more than 300,000 people. The mass was the spiritual highlight of Benedict’s two-day visit, the first by a pope to Venice since his predecessor John Paul II plied the canals in a gondola styled for Venice’s ancient rulers.

Of course Italy is also famous as the birthplace for the legendary and elegant Riva powerboat marque. Stay tuned to Woody Boater for a unique story of a classic Riva currently being restored in America.
1. I wonder what they name Pope Benedict’s wooden boat?
2. Is there enough PFD’s aboard for the Pope’s entourage and security staff?
3. I wonder if they carry an Ace Hardware bailing bucket on board?
