Fellow Woody Boaters Mike & Nicole Mayer reporting in from today’s Chicago River Cruise, one of the pre-events leading up to the big 36th Annual ACBS Meeting and International Show hosted by the Blackhawk and Glacier Lakes ACBS Chapters. Take it away Mike!
Texx – We had about 15 boats on the cruise. The weather fully cooperated and my wife and I were fortunate to make some great new friends and get a ride on Rick and Beth Leppings 1957 17′ CC deluxe.
We topped off with gas before we left and therefore didn’t run out. The little Chris made it’s debut on Lake Michigan and we had a great cruise over to the Chicago river inlet.
We had WB-ADD and were distracted by a big Viking type boat. We went over to check it out and didn’t get back in time to lock through with the group. We ended up going through with Bill Mack and his 1941 Lyman, and the Coast Guard.
Traveling through downtown Chicago with a caravan of woodies on a sunshiny day is the only way to go. Once we locked back through all of us in the smaller boats were dismayed by the rollers waiting for us out in the lake.
