It’s been in the works for an entire 2 weeks.. Yes.. two weeks of planning..The very first event of its kind. The Chris-Craft Antique Boat Clubs Boat Buzz is going live! Thats right, you can come and meet all your favorite Boat Buzzers in person. Who by the way in many cases are also Woody Boaters. It’s a Un-plugged athon of fun and belly whacking amongst all your online pals. Al Benton will be there, Jfrprops, Woody Gal,  Phil, will be there, we will be there,  we would love to see you at the Mariners Museum and Library for a fun day of deep, and not so deep info gathering. When you ask? December 3rd in Newport News VA. We even have secured a special $59.00 rate at the Best Western Plus there.. It’s a plus so it must be good…We will be publishing all the sorted details on Monday.  Schedule, location yada yada.. You will need to book your room 14 days in advance to get the special rate though. More on that as well.. If you want more info right away, you can email John Rothert  at [email protected]  or if you want to follow the thread on Boat buzz and see how this developed and where it’s going.. You can click here. It’s actually rather cool, it grew spontaneously and fast…It’s the first known event of its kind. We here at Woody Boater are also planning such an event early summer in a very special Chris Craft place. Stay tuned for that as well.

So who from the Northeast has a business jet and can pick me up at KROC on Friday afternoon?

So how nerdy are we that we get excited about a library outing? Darn I wish I could go.

For those that aren’t familiar with this amazing collection, it includes the entire history of Chris-Craft boats from 1922 until 1977. Every file, every original hull card, every production drawing, original photographs and much more is now in the care of The Mariners’ Museum. The Chris-Craft Collection is housed in the new Library at Christopher Newport University in partnership with the museum where it was sorted, cataloged and filed.

It may be the most complete collection of corporate history in the USA. The tour will include seeing how the museum puts together research packages for Chris-Craft boat owners, where and how the files are kept and accessed daily by the volunteers, interested individuals and researchers.

If you own a Chris-Craft boat built between 1922 and 1977 bring the hull number and they’ll show you the original documents for your boat. It’s amazing and is a Must See!!!

Well this is depressing. Maybe you’re right Rick.

What if I told you this is on a University campus where hundreds of cute scantly dressed coed students spend countless hours hanging out at the library on Saturday mornings. Would that help???
