OK – It’s Christmas day, and for most Woody Boaters this time of year, your antique & classic boats have been carefully stored away for the winter, right? Next week will be the beginning of a new year and your probably starting to look forward to spring and another season of classic boating.

But if your not quite ready to watch another re-run of The Sound of Music or White Christmas on the tube, fellow Woody Boater Dane Anderson sent us some great images from the 2011 Gull Lake Antique and Classic Boat Show at the docks of Bar Harbor in Minnesota. Then, at the end of todays story, if you have an extra 11 minutes to spare, you can watch an interesting time lapse video of the event. Part way through the video it’s fun to watch the antique boats jockey for position as they arrive, and dock stern first into the slips… some guys take a few runs at it as they carefully guide the big triples into position for the show.

WARNING: DON’T WATCH THIS VIDEO AFTER EATING A BIG TURKEY DINNER, YOU WILL NEVER GET THROUGH IT!!

Here’s a few of Dane’s great images from the 2011 Gull Lake event…

Shown above and below “Bolo Babe” – a 1926 Gar Wood 33′ Baby Gar powered by a 425HP Liberty V-12 – Owner John Allen

Thomas Miller’s 1968 19′ Century Arabian “Mon Cheri” powered by a 300HP Chrysler V-8.

We understand that this is “Hornet” a 1932 28′ Gar Wood Triple Cockpit powered by a big V-12 Scripps. This beautiful boat was restored by Doug Morin for the late Gerry Pederson.

A 1955 Greavette 26′ Streamliner “Pocahontas” powered by a 220HP Chrysler V-8 – Owner John Allen

Michael Lang’s 1939 19′ Chris-Craft Custom Barrelback – “Victory”

Another rare boat from John Allen’s collection, “Chief Mackinac” a 1918 33′ Consolidated Custom Launch.

“Ondine” – A 1925 30′ Belle Isle Super Bearcat powered by a 650HP Hispano-Suiza V-12 – Owner Kermit Sutton

At almost 99 years young, “Josie” a 1913 Mullins.

“Honey Don’t” – A 1928 26′ Dodge Model 826 – Owner John Allen

A special thanks go out to Dane Anderson for sharing these images with us today.

Happy Holidays to all the Woody Boater Community! Grab a hot or cold drink, sit back and enjoy this video from the 2011 Gull Lake Antique & Classic Boat Show – Texx

Merry Christmas everyone. I just opened up my first Christmas present from my 2 daughters. a fully cooked pound of bacon. Yep , thats all I wanted for Christmas, well that Greavette looked pretty tasty too!

HA, I just got some Bacon flavored toothpaste.. EVERYTHING IS BETTER WITH BACON OR CHESSE..

I used to believe everything was better with bacon or chocolate, until I received a chocolate bar with bacon in it. Chocolate is definitely better without bacon, but it is clearly the exception not the rule.

I’m dizzy! Almost lost me HoHo’s…great video – just glad you showed it Christmas Day and NOT New Year’s Day…don’t think I’d have made it through…

    Merry Christmas everyone!

I want to say Merry Christmas to everyone and thank you very much Matt for what great exposure your blog/website has brought to our hobby, literally from all over the world. Before Woodyboater those of us in remote locations such as southern KY. ha, mostly had to wait for the various magizines to arrive to see what was happening around the country and by the time the magizines get here it is already mostly old news. Your site gives me my daily fix.

    Thanks Again
