The Inland Empire Chapter ACBS has received the news that once again, they will be hosting the 38th Annual Meeting and International Boat Show in September 2013 which will be held at the beautiful Coeur d’Alene Resort in Northern Idaho. “With idyllic landscape, year-round activities, and its spectacular setting at the shore of one of America’s most beautiful lakes, it is no wonder that Coeur d’Alene has been christened the Playground of the Northwest– CDA Resort.”
This week the Inland Empire Chapter is also representing the antique & classic boating hobby with a big indoor display in Spokane, Washington – about 30 minutes from Coeur d’Alene. Here’s the story from chapter member and Inland Scuttlebutt newsletter editor Wes Yandt.
57th Annual Spokane National Boat Show – Spokane, WA
January 28th through Feb 4th marks the 57th Annual Spokane National Boat Show at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center. Scott Thompson the Spokane Boat Show Manager has once again invited the Inland Empire ACBS chapter to participate by bringing our classics down and talking them up with anybody that will stand still. Steve and Linda Zwarg have done an outstanding job organizing our efforts at the show and convinced the owners of 17 classics that rain, sleet nor snow will hurt our precious babies. After all they are boats and meant to get wet.
Terry Jefferson and Deanna Gude’s 1956 14 ½’ Monterrey Deluxe Yellow Jacket. Terry’s mother purchased this boat new and Terry and his family continue to enjoy this beautiful little survivor today by tubing and skiing behind her every year.
Ron, Jane, Wes and Sue Yandt’s 1963 20’ Yandt Utility “the Uncle Bob”. Ron’s uncle Bob built this boat at the Yandt Boat works in nearby Coeur d’Alene Idaho. This is one of 6 known survivors of the approximately 75 boats Bob Yandt built.
Bob and Anne Henshaw’s 1946 20’ Chris-Craft Custom Runabout “Lizzy”. Bob has been working on the restoration of this boat since he brought it home in 2009 and plans on having it in the water this summer. It is great for the public to see a project in process to give them a perspective of the work that goes into them.
Here’s John and Jan Keener along with Steve and Linda Zwarg manning the Inland Empire ACBS information booth breaking some very exciting local news – that the Inland Empire Chapter will be hosting the 38th Annual Meeting and International Boat Show in September 2013 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.
The Spokane National Boat Show at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center offers over 140,000 sq ft of brand new Fiberglass and Aluminum boats. It is quite a contrast to the old “Woodies” that we all love.
