It’s Friday on Lake Dora, the weather is spectacular and the Chicken-on-a-Stick is tasty… Oh and the vintage wooden raceboats are on the water making noise! And yes – Alex Watson was there with his trusty Nikon snapping images fast and furious…
Are we having fun yet? HELL YA – And this is just the beginning…
Our friend Carla from Hagerty Marine Insurance was also learning the finer points of operating an 80 year-old vintage race boat from Charles Mistele aboard Miss America IX.

Although I have experienced many great rides and thrills in my 24 years in this hobby, today another “check” on my bucket list has been realized…thank you Charles for the ride of a lifetime on Miss America IX…where do I go from here – it’s all downhill, baby!!

Jet boats. The miss America boat has straightline speed, but a jet adds turning agility and the ability to stop on a dime.
Alex
No really, each time Miss America would rip by, from her cockpit, I swear I could hear the same sound that Geico pig makes. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Did you just compare Carla to a pig? I foresee someone getting a big rate increase this year.
Jack Schneiberg
You betcha!
Alex
Not at all. I was describing the owner’s glee. Of course, it could have been transmission whine… Or a circling heron. Or Matt, just messing with me.

Jet boats suck!
Randy Rush-Captain Grumpy
But they blow also….
Sabina
Go Carla!

Jet boats rule!
