Friday marks the first official day for this years Lake Dora boat show in Tavares, Florida – And once again this year, it’s a “Cornucopia of Antique & Classic Boats” both in the water and on land.
Yesterday fellow Woody Boater and Hessel, Michigan correspondent Alex Watson arrived in Lake Dora and snapped a series of images which captures the wide variety of boats at this years show. From outboards to inboards, wood to fiberglass, antiques to classics, there’s something here for everybody.
This particular outboard is a great example of the quality of workmanship at Lake Dora this year.
The attention to detail is outstanding… A nice example of “Less is More”…
And the period correct Johnson outboard finished off the boat beautifully.
We featured a shot of this perfectly restored Donzi 14′ Baby named “Pacifier” yesterday and it certainly deserves another look today. This classic Donzi just screams Fun! (and Fast)
And it’s not every day you get to see a “Big Finned” wooden Correct Craft…
Or a very cool 1959 Volksboat Jetra with a Mercury outboard.
This very nice 1959 Chris-Craft Capri 18′ – “Curio” is here from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
How about a unique wooden boat with a perfect name – “Retirement Plan”.
“Wooden Lady” is described by her owner as “The Ultimate User Boat… Used Every Day All Year”…
The 1960 Chris-Craft 25′ Cavalier gets lots of attention where ever she goes…
And is always nicely presented as a user boat… Today they are featuring Fruit Loops for breakfast!
And this twin outboard powered Neo-Classic which is actually a new boat, with classic, but sleek styling… (and Baby Moon hubcaps on the trailer… anybody out there remember those?)
A crowd favorite at every boat show, either in the water or on land, are the timeless designs of the AristoCraft marque.
The 60 year tradition of AristoCraft Boats is alive and well, and today they are built with pride in Alpharetta, Georgia. They also have one of the best websites in the hobby, you can click here to check it out.
Here’s a rare late model Larson Falls Flyer on her period correct trailer powered by a big Merc outboard… Don’t forget that the largest collection of Falls Flyers on the planet is coming up for auction in May, as part of the huge Mikkelson Collection Auction in Wilmar, Minnesota. Stay tuned to Woody Boater for a full update, and inventory list next week.
The attention to detail on this Falls Flyer is acceptional.
Pick a color, any color – as long as it comes with a black Mercury outboard.
Special thanks to Alex Watson for sharing his great images from Lake Dora with us here at Woody Boater and stay tuned for more updates from the big show…
