This just in from fellow Woody Boaters Jamie Smith & Harold Wilson, and the nice folks at the Toronto Chapter ACBS in Southern Ontario.

To our Miss Canada IV Restoration and “Harold & Lorna” Friends,

For those of you who live close to the Muskoka Region of Southern Ontario, this is your invitation to attend the Toronto Chapter ACBS Spring Tour event and visit 11 outstanding Restoration Shops on Saturday, April 21st.

The shop tour is scheduled from 8:00am-5:00pm with lunch at the JW Marriott, The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa starting at noon. This annual event marks the beginning of the boating season in the Muskokas and surronding area.

It is your opportunity to see the work done during the winter months at the restoration shops and to join friends for lunch at the JW Marriott. The Miss Canada IV Restoration Team looks forward to seeing you at Tom Adams shop between 10:00am-3:00pm. Directions to Toms Adams shop are on the attached Shop Directions list. Note — the Dockers Restaurant is closed — look for Tamarack North Ltd or Muskoka Teak.

The photos we sent to Woody Boater for this announcement are recent photos which were taken of Miss Canada IV on April 4th. You will see a change when you visit nine days from now! Please note that all shops are not open from 8:00am through 5:00pm. Also, the registration form says that the deadline for lunch tickets is to-day. Gord Hawke has extended the registration deadline until noon Monday April 16th. Call or email him asap! We look forward to seeing you on the 21st.

The restoration work is moving along nicely on the Miss Canada IV project. The 1948/49 Greavette built 33′ multi-step hydroplane is currently being restored at Tom Adams Boat Shop in Port Carling. Ontario. Here’s what she looked like being offloaded to be moved in to Thom’s boat shop last summer…

And here’s what she looked like on April 4th when these photos were taken, as she begins to get her new bottom planks. These restoration projects are not for the faint of heart…

Those pictures are an inspiration. I’m in the midst of trying to put new frames and battens in a ’57 Century Palomino. The fellow I bought this project from – or, the fellow before that – took the bottom off, and while I have all the pieces and parts – sorting them out and fitting them so that the bottom is true has been a real challenge. If I hang a couple of these shots on the shop wall, I can go look to them and know all things are possible. Well – maybe.

Jack, you sound exactly like the kind of person we want on our movie and restoration team! All things ARE possible, if we just refuse to quit, take “No” for an answer or start regretting the hours being gobbled up in the process. We will “get there”, and wish you the best in your project.

The Miss Canada IV restoration project is remarkable, certainly a challenge for only a highly qualified wooden boat restoration company.

Do you know when the boat is scheduled to be completed and if there are any plans to do any demonstration runs in the water for the public to see her doing what she does best?

    Thanks for the update.

    re: Miss Canada IV re-launch

There are a million things still to be done, but the “Miss Canada IV Restoration Team” has an end-of-summer 2012 target date. We hope to combine the official re-launch of the boat with the world premiere of the movie “Harold & Lorna”.

Interested parties can stay up-to-date by visiting the project website at http://www.haroldandlornamovie.com and/or our facebook page “Harold & Lorna and Miss Canada IV”.

Thanks for your interest and comments!

Great pictures that will save me a lot of trouble trying to get when we visit. Leaving Wednesday morning from Georgia to take the tour and attend the Annual Dispro (Disappearing Propeller Boat Owners) Club General Meeting on Sunday. Can’t wait to see the movie. Probably have to come back to Canada to see it or maybe we’ll have a special showing in the states. When “Madison” came out there wasn’t a showing within 300 miles of Atlanta that I could find. So, I got the DVD but sure would like to see it on a movie screen with surround sound.

Let’s do launch and movie, lol.

Wow! Driving from Georgia for the Ontario Spring Tour… now THAT’S what I call “Passion in Action”! I sure hope you get to Tom Adams’ shop and search us out to say hello. I’ll be the bald guy wearing the “Miss Canada IV Restoration Team” shirt.

    “Launch & Movie”… I love it. Wish I’d thought of it first! I suppose you’ll want royalties…
