We all recognize Daytona Beach, Florida as the home of NASCAR and the historic Daytona International Speedway. But just a few miles south of Daytona Beach you will find the small, relaxed community of Ponce Inlet. The area is best known for being home to Florida’s tallest lighthouse and a marine science center with interactive exhibits, a boardwalk, observation tower and nature trails.

The Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is located 10 miles south of Daytona Beach in the Town of Ponce Inlet. Situated on the north bank of Ponce Inlet where the Halifax and Indian Rivers flow into the Atlantic Ocean, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is a must see for anyone interested in Florida, maritime, or local history.

It is said that in 1513, Juan Ponce De Leon was exploring the land and waters around the inlet that today bears his name. In 1886-87, a 175 foot high lighthouse was built and named after Ponce de Leon. Ponce Inlet, Florida was named after Antonio Ponce, who was granted land here during the Spanish occupation of Florida.

We attended the first show for this event and took home “best antique boat” award…

these folks were alot of fun to hang around and play with; the docks were fantastic. there were alot of big boats and a nice display of smaller boats on land, we were in the water.

we couldn’t attend last year as we were getting our trailer sanded and painted for the Hilton Head Show…our trailer was shabby chic, that’s a nice way of putting it…(it was actually tri-colored from 20 plus years of just throwing paint on it since we never thought of showing on land)…

the down the hatch restaurant had great food and the bartenders made killer bloody mary’s…funny how much more i talked about the boats after a few of those!!!

we had a blast there! the vendors that they had had great items for sale.

Dear Ms. Ranger. Southebys had an interest in auctioning off your trailer. We had estimated its value at $100,000 owing to its “tri-colored from 20 plus years of just throwing paint on it” patina. We were dismayed for you upon learning it has since been repainted. However, all is not to lost. Corey Harrison of “Pawn Stars” fame (no relation to Paul Harrison) tells us he will take it off your hands for a couple benjamins and a few more Ponce Inlet bloody marys. Please let us know if you would like us to act as intermediary.

“Floating Concrete” docks? Does this work on the same principle as Ivory Soap bars? Lots of bubbles?

1st came across concrete floating docks probably about 15 years ago at American Warf in Norwalk CT. They were great, wish more were around.

The Florida Chapter of the Antique Outboard Motor Club Inc. will have a table set up at the swap meet across the lane from the restaurant. We will have some stuff on display and probably a couple of trailers of vintage age outboard powered hydroplanes. The purpose is to spread the word about our club. We also will probably be drinking a beer or two and telling lies . Stop by ! A few of our guys are also in your club.
