The walk up to the shed!

So I am at my pal Becky’s parents house and she is showing me around. The header today is of that dock and boathouse. The house is stunning perched on a hill top over looking the creek. Anyway as we are walking around, I spot the work shop and see a pile of stuff in the corner. Now what looks like a pile.. a big pile of fire wood covered with some old ladders and wood under a blue tarp.

Oh, sweet Jesus! Is it just a pile of twiggs? Fire wood? Or true American muscle?

Now I know “Pops” as he is lovingly called, has a fantastic eye for cool stuff. And saves it! What’s under those blue tarps I ask? No mind you, Pops house is right across the creek from me. I look at this home every time I am at my house. And there under the blue tarp.. Treasure! Now am I going to reveal it right now? No.. Are you kidding, I want you to feel the anticipation I did.  That moment of agony, that tingle that moment were you know something cool is about to happen. This is the most fun part of a pickers day. What is it? What could it be? A cool speed boat? Parts? Stay tuned and find out later. You will not be disapointed!

I vote for firewood. Pops would not pile all that stuff on top of anything he felt was really cool. Right?

here are this weeks winning lottery #’s 12,36,48,22…..I’ll tell you the other one later!

Hmmm , judging the length of ladder it’s no more than 7 feet long and three feet wide max. My guess probably an ole 8 cylinder marine engine.. Buchanan, flat head ford, Kermath , Scripps, Hall Scott, Packard, Sterling, Chrysler, Graymarine , or the holy grail a marinized, liberty 12… Whatcha gonna put it in Matt?

I’m going with a pile of wet, rotten firewood, a dead raccoon and a rusty can of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Maybe a mouse or two.

After the bad karma oil leak that followed the article rubbing our northern noses in his Saturday of boating, you would think Matt would be more careful about teasing the readership.

I am not sure what I am looking forward to more, the big reveal, or he cosmic punishment unleashed upon those who dare tease Woodyboaterville.

Yah : Maybe another discussion on finnish washers is needed.

I’ve given this much thought today. Having watched plenty of Price is Right episodes when I was a kid, I learned from Bob Barker that it’s oftentimes the best strategy to be the lowest bidder. Let the other contestants try to guestimate and end up overbidding.

    So I’m sticking with Trilobites.

    • Randy Rush-Captain Grumpy

Lowest bidder, how could anything be lower than a finish or swedish washer?

    OK, time for the reveal…

So is it the complete published works of Joe Martell? The 15th OGP Thayer IV alternate boat? 1400 vintage 2008 Woodyweiners? An 8′ crab skiff?

  9. Texx

Or could it be the series of original stone tablets that Danenberg inscribed back in 1800’s which were later used to publish the book “How To Restore A Wooden Runabout”…

    • m-fine

Can’t be Texx. There was no CPES or 5200 in the 1800’s, and there actually weren’t even runabouts. They must be from his long out of print book, “How to Restore a Paddle Steamer.”

Dammit! This is utterly unfair to those of us with ADD. I feel like a stupid fish that keeps getting caught on in the same day, on the same hook, over and over and over…

A pox on you, WoodyBaiter! And the oil-soaked boat you rode in on!

  11. Cobourg Kid

Still waitin Mann you really know how to draw this thing out. Hey look the giants just scored another run

That’s it. Tantrum time. Eyes are closed. Fingers are in both ears, and I’m yelling loudly so as not to hear you either: “lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala…”

I’m on strike. Tomorrow, I’m going fishing, where at least I can be the fisherman and not the fish. You will sorely miss my 156 clicks.

    “lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala…………..”
