I got a sander, I got a sander. Just what I always wanted! Wooohooo!

It’s that magical day, when the family all comes together and shares in the joy of the season. More importantly it’s also that time of year that you might actually get a boat part or god forbid, a boat as a gift. They know by now that a tie aint gonna cut it. You want that 2 1/2 inch copper exhaust pipe this year. Did you get it? Well, with the new picture comment thing here on Woody Boater you can share your joy! Unless your new pet monkey pee’d all over your new sons of varnish hoodie! Wait, no definitely tell us about that one!

I got a screwdriver from my son, Salter. Though he’s only 5, he’s already figured out his Dad has more than a few “loose ones.”

I got the best gift, a unrelated 22 year old guy donated his stem cells so I could continue to be a WB fan. Yes, I do have my big orange SOV shirt ready to wear to the GLACBS functions next year!! I’m getting my stamina back and WILL be riding on a bunch of woody boats this summer. Texx and Matt thanks again for doing all this work, sure makes my days in isolation bearable.

Santa’s database profiling is getting way better, he must have upgraded the system as there were no miss fits this year. Got all the normal stuff like tee-shirts, socks etc but the below mix was very cool :-

a new (old) life buoy that has been tarted up to grace Raindance

a copy of Peter Smiths ‘Rebecca – the restoration of an old yacht’ always wanted a copy for the boat since I read it ex the library.

a copy of ‘Cruising Hints’ by Francis B Cooke – first published in 1904, my edition published in 1946 is a gem, written at a time when the world was changing over from war to peace conditions & is a great read + dozens of neat illustrations.

    & the latest WoodenBoat Mag

Hope you all had a good one & that you made it thru the annual overload of food, wine & relatives

And here it is folks, embedded into the Comments.

Matt and Texx, here’s an idea for you. Echo the daily header(s) at the start of each day’s Comments section. That way, references to headers among the Comments will make sense when reading past stories.

My favorite gift was photoshop for my mac! I can now put foxes in my boat and “enhance” any pictures of fellow Woody Boaters. In a good way of course!

Hey Chad, at first, I saw some Gauguin in Lily’s bright, daring palette. But then I took a closer look at her subject matter. The right third of the painting bears a striking resemblance to The Scream. Is kindergarden really that tough? Or has she been spending too much time watching daddy tear into his XK restoration?

My favorite gift from wife, a pro photo print Not boat related but water related of me coming out of a half mile creek run in 1 – 3 ft water part of the 2012 Frogtown 10 mile Challenge this past October setting a course record and winning my age bracket after 3 grueling hill climbs, 7 water crossings, the creek run, log obstacles, yellow jacket stings and cargo net climb at mile 9.5. Over a 1000 participants registered, not all could complete.

An E-Reader – first book I’m reading is a biography of Leonard Cohen.

I also got a belated gift – a call today telling me that the engine I was taking to Portland when I became stuck and exiled in Browning Montana is FINALLY done, 2 yars later. Good lord….

Best gift is 2 weeks at the lake with Karen, piece, quiet and no shopping!
