When we showed up to Lake Dora on Tuesday there was one boat out at the docks. A beautiful Lyman called Lyman Tyme. Fellow Woody Boater Dennis Mykols pronounced “Micheals” by the way was there ready to go. Dennis has just recently picked up his new Lyman from the Antique Boat Center and made the trip down south to do what we all wanted to do. Go Woody Boating. The week for Dennis did not start out as planned though. A leak kept him wondering what in the heck was going on. The good folks at Antique Boat Center stopped everything and had the boat yanked out and bam! A pee stream coming from a screw hole? Within a minute the issue was fixed and back in the water. All we saw for the rest of the show, was Dennis and his bride Ronnie motoring back and forth and out on all the water ways of Lake Country.
Dennis for sure knows how to have fun. We were lucky enough to catch Dennis while out shooting another boat. Ronnie, Dennis’s wife on the other hand was not so lucky that we had 3 cameras focused on the Lyman.. Cue the sequence! Mr Zapruder would be proud! For the record, the wake shot is not easy to do. Ronnie has a great sense of humor about it, and no one was hurt in the filming of this.
We asked Ronnie and Dennis if was OK to share this with our fellow Woody Boaters, they said OK. We appreciate that since this is all part of classic boating. Lymans roll a bit more than Dennis previous race boat. We to have had the same issue .. several times. When you are out on your boat for the first time, stuff happens, thank god Dennis is a long time boater and understood what could happen. We were egging him on to make some drama happen. And he did! The rest of the shots of course were rather more sedate. And everyone was seated on the back seat. Thanks Dennis and Ronnie for sharing.
