Screen Shot 2013-05-03 at 8.31.18 PMAre you looking for a fun and worthy project? Well, this may be your lucky day. This cool Century has all the right stuff going for it, including the price. $250 Thats right.Fellow Woody Boater Pat Lisherness of Sedro Vally Washington found this amazing little Century Roan. Now here is the beauty of this thing. It’s supposed to be PINK!

So it needs a new ... everything? it's $250 bucks for gods sake.

Thats right, it’s pre set up for spousal approval. It’s all for her! Pure genus move and you spent less on it than she did on that last hair dooo. Ok so it may cost a bit to get running. Here is some advice. Regardless of the condition of the wood,  paint it pink first. After that its all hers.. yours, hers… Anyway below is the note from Pat, and here is the story on Woody boater from a year ago about the Century Roan.

Here is what she can look like when finished.. She will love it!

Matt, Everything I have is included except the Trailer. I also have the stainless trim pieces that go the length of the boat and the Chrome trim at the water line. You will have to excuse me for not using the correct terms for the boat parts. Would be great to see someone restore it The interior parts are in the boat but I don’t know if it complete. Looks like it is. The price is what i paid for it, just trying to get it to someone that can make the best of the boat.

It's all there!

It’s all there!

Thanks Pat, so if you live in Washignton State email Pat here palmjoannl@hotmail.com and you are all set.

Tommy Mertaugh and his guys restored one of these over the (long) Hessel winter. It is a neat little boat. Perhaps he has some “after” photos to share.

“Pre set up for spousal approval?” Because of a girly color? Is it really that simple in your household Matt? Because if it is, you know ANY boat can be painted pink, right? And pink fades to white, right? And white is a blank canvas for reprinting in any color you want, right, or to sanding and varnishing, right?

Your pink 40’+ Constellation and 40’+ Commander awaits you.

    It’s foolproof!

Genius! Instead of pink I could paint it salmon so it’s good for her and I can use it in the Hamptons! And to think I was going to get her diamonds, saved me some money better spent on boating.

PINK??? You are kidding right. Might as well turn in your Man Card now and just admit you go to Hooters just for the food. Nearly had mine revoked this weekend.

They have food at Hooters ????

And frankly, while I am entirely comfortable with both of my masculine and feminine sides, there is no way in Hades that I would ever paint a boat pink….

hey texx, i see that great lakes scuttlebutt magazine used your picture of the carina with the mis step and cobra 2 times in the current issue, i dont see the credit?

    mike

    • Texx

Thanks Mike – On that particular image, Matt did authorize Chris-Craft to use it for marketing purposes.

However as Woody Boater continues to grow, we are beginning to see a major problem with people and other publications using our images without our consent.

      • Dennis Mykols

Texx, thanks for clearing that up. Yes Chris Craft Inc gave us the photos to use. They are even on the Front Cover this Issue.

OMG. I hope the WoodyBoater Police never compare their Headers with my computer desktop. Should I donate more and get an official okey-dokey to reproduce the images for my home enjoyment?

          • Texx

That’s great Rick. We want folks to enjoy the images, that’s why we are doing our best to provide larger res versions when we can. And don’t block them.

It’s the unapproved commercial use of the images that’s becoming the problem.

          • Alex

I donated. But I never got my official okey dokey. Must still be in the mail. Probably being fulfilled out of China.

I am on the road to boulder or I would have commented earlier . The cover shot is from chris craft from there photo . So was the header that day. The interior three shot was Texx. And will be used for other chris craft stuff soon to be announced. That shot regardless of bad light was a once in a lifetime shot.

Is it a 58 that was pink or is it a 59-61 which were stained cherry red? Looks to be one of the cherry red ones. Not enough to tell which year it is. Could be anywhere from 58-61. It does take the long shaft. But I’m not sure what year the change was made from short shaft. Either 58 or 59.

Everyone is checking out the boat—I’m looking at the trailer. It appears to be a Holzclaw from the paint scheme. Great trailer for wood boats.

    • Frank Miklos

I believe you are correct that it is a Holzclaw. Not bad trailers but not by far my favorite of vintage trailers..

I think the seller bought it originally just because it was red. Also check out the sign in the neighbors yard. Its his outlook on the sellers restoration deadline. It would have been a neat little boat. The inboard model really is a sharp boat
