We are in the final throws of packing up to head for St. Clair for our big show. The weather forcast looks great, and we will have over 70 boats in the water for a super display of classic watercraft. The cruisers are coming in big time to get jusdged as the Marque boat this year, and to party as only the cruiser guys can do. We will be running the St. Clair river and Flats for events on both Friday and Sunday. The Michigan chapter will be rockin this weekend!

Don’t forget us “Dippyer’s” (Disappearing Propeller Boat Owners) going to North Bay for the Lake Nipissing UUMMT (Unauthorized Unofficial Mini Misery Tour). What are we? chopped liver?

Woody Boaters in Southern Ontario who aren’t spending this weekend up in Muskoka or Halliburton fixin that dang flood damaged dock or boat house, or, like Floyd R, bustin-a-gut trying to start a cranky dispro in the middle of a wave encrusted lake Nippising may want to shoot over to the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough Ontario.

This Saturday ( June 22) museum staff will be hosting their annual “Small Craft Rendezvous”. If you build, restore, use, own or just want to learn more about small watercraft, you won’t want to miss this event.

The rendezvous will feature more than 30 outdoor exhibitors, including our friends at ACBS Toronto Chapter and the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association.

Additionally there will be live demonstrations, like Canoe re-canvassing, and special guest speakers, such as yacht designer Steve Killing who will talk about a number of exciting projects

What makes this event decidedly different from pretty much every other wooden boat event this summer? Why it’s the presence of actor, woodworker, canoe builder, and all-round funny man and eccentric, Nick Offerman who plays Ron Swanson in the acclaimed NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. Nick will MC the event which runs from 10am to 5pm at the Museum. The best part ( other than Ron’s antics) is that admission is absolutely free!

Oh, man, CK, didn’t know about that at the Peterborough. Would love to have been there too. Just got finished doing exactly what you said, pressure washing boat docks from high water silt, jacking and releveling docks/cribs, and raising the load bearing beam across the boat door so we can actually get the aluminum Stanley out the boat house door in high water.

But the Dippy started on the first pull upon de-winterizing.
