If you are like me, going into a Restoration Hardware store can take some time cause I want to buy everything. Well, the founder of Restoration Hardware Stephen Gordon has done it again, only this time he has gone right for the heart of all of us that are into boats. Guideboat Co. a stunning retail store dedicated to the world of small boats and a nice inventory of related  gear and apparel.

Even the logo is cool!

Located in the beautiful town of Mill Vally California right outside of San Fransisco in an old former lumber yard/hardware store. If you are ever in the bay area, well worth the trip. Amazing restaurants and other one of a kind retail experiences.  For those of us though that a 3000 mile trip is not in the cards for a while, thy have a very cool website.  Just click here.

Many of the items will look familiar to us in the Wooden classic boat hobby, but all together in one place.  It’s like someone stepped into my closet and dreams and made it into an amazing store.

You can purchase a cool little boat if you like. If you want to drop a Flathead in there, that's up to you I imagine

I love that in the middle of the tools they offer ceramic growlers. Always best to gave a brewski handy AFTER you’re done with the sharp tools.

Something weird about the header photo. Is the catwalk plank in front of the rudder?

    • John Kadimik

Looks like the beam the boat is blocked on. The catwalk plane is behind the rudder, No?

Yes, the catwalk (or more likely, the racoonwalk or minkwalk) is behind. There are beams widthwise under the boat. The owner was in the process of blocking it on those beams. Then, he’ll lower the boat, so weight is shared by the blocks and the winches.

I loved taking this shot. I was boating by in the Whaler. It was a case of right boat, right place, right time.

That US Navy blanket would look mighty fine draped across the back seat of a 24′ Sportsman.

It’s a slow day in Woodyboaterville when half the comments deal with the position of the “catwalk plank” either behind or in front of the rudder on the banner photo that will no longer be visible by 7:00 AM tomorrow.

The GUIDEBOAT Co has an interesting website. Lots of stuff you don’t need, but “must” have.
