Dang, I dont care its a pontoon boat, it deserves better.. Atleast she is not alone though.

Is there anything more lonely than a boat out in the snow? That is the question that Alex Watson asked the other day. And man oh man was he right. They just feel dead. It must me the moisture in the wood that allows all the good karma and love flow through it.

But a cold winter snow bound boat is certainly a sad sight. Thanks to Bob Kays form Lake Hopatcong for heading out and finding some shots for us.

And thanks to Alex Watson for his header! Says it all. If you have a lonely boat, post it today and maybe it will feel the warmth… ONE MONTH TIL LAKE DORa! WOOHooO!

Must be an old picture of the “gang” from Lake Hopatcong. Where’s the snow? Over 2′ on the ground now!

this winter sure has been a bit overkill, we just had a winter work shop yesterday and this girl was sitting out side the shop. at least the sun was shining yesterday.

My boats are covered sitting down on our association beach, I drive by them everyday and cringe at the snow covering them. This is one of my boats last winter when I bought it, at least its wrapped now,

I don’t suppose you want to hear frrom sunny Florida. We are about to have a Sunnyland Past President’s meeting in an hour…don’t guess I should mention snow up North.

The boat in Alex’s header shot would look lonely WITHOUT the snow. Poor thing. It deserved better.

What happened to the bottom of the transom? Was the drive unit in that location? Or did someone cut a hole to remove an item from inside? Is the control area fiberglass? Poking around that boat would be like an archaeologic dig.

Header cruiser looks like a ’60’s vintage Owens, probably around 22-ft. They were V8 inboard shaft driven — could be someone may have pulled the inboard out and built a well to clamp an outboard inside. After being around boats for nearly 60 years nothing surprises me anymore — I have seen nearly everything that creative genius’s could dream up.

    Went ice fishing today.

Was going to bring the boat but could not make a hole in the 18+ inches of ice big enough to float her.

The tool you were looking for is called dynamite. Once you get that first small hole drilled, it is amazing how quick you can break up large areas of ice.

Also after the application of explosives you won’t need any fishing gear except for a net.

In case you were wondering there are people out there who know how to enjoy winter!

THANK YOU TROY! Cause that header picture today sure was depressing.

with over 2 feet of snow on the ground around here, we are getting ready for the Grand Rapids Boat Show later this week.
Our Water Wonderland Chapter will have a very nice display of antique and classic boats with every thing from 8 foot hydro’s, to turn of century Steam Launches. Also three FiberClassic vessels.
Here is my little 14footer out in the snow Friday going from the painters shop over to my Mechanics shop to hook up the 1959 Merc 35 h.p. Mark 35A.
Of course it had to snow Sunday morning when we had to trailer all the boats over to Grand Rapids for staging, what a mess. But, they had a power washes drive thru setup, and after a quick wipe down, she looked like new. See second picture.

Just back from 3 days in Hessel. Hadn’t read WB all that time.

Made a point while up there to take lots of pics of snowy boats for this very story, but I see Matt jumped the gun and ran it anyway.

    Premature blogging?
