Up against huge national brands. You may have seen some of the ads in the Brass Bell, and will see them as headers on Woody Boater. We would like to congratulate and thank the writer, fellow Woody boaters Bruce “Rabbit” Bildsten and photographer Shawn Fenn who took the amazing photos that you have been seeing. The main purpose of the marketing is to ask people to do more than just own a boat, but to live the Woody Boater lifestyle. These ads show people enjoying life on the water in a Woody Boat. The ” award winning” ads will be rolling out through out the year.

Makes me proud to be a member of the family.

Don’t forget the “Donate” button on the “About” page.

Wow, what is going on here? Before long, when I talk about WoodyBoater to my family and friends, they may actually relate, and not look at me as some old varnish head that is still back in the 20th century!
Congrats to all involved in the award and all the great work it represents.

  5. m-fine

Great work by all involved. I like the “surrounded by woods” and “throw it in the river” ones the most so far.

    • Grant Stanfield

I second that…these two posters caught my eye immediately. Absolutely beautiful photography…and well deserved awards! Bravo, WoodyBoater!

  6. Alex

Evangelizing about the joys of wooden boating is noble work. Congratulations on your win!

Just promise, Matt and Texx, not to show up at my door in suits, smiling too much. (I keep a taser in the umbrella stand.)

  7. Carla

Congrats Matt to you and your team! What the rest of us always knew is now being recognized nationally!! I’m all about the posters for purchase.

  8. Peter Stephens

Congrats to the WoodyBoater team! Beautiful photographs and well deserved honors!

  9. Dale

Like your headers, the posters are stunning. Congratulations to you and your whole team

  10. Bob Menzel

Congratulations. The recognition and awards are well deserved. I look forward to seeing framed copies of the art at Tavares.

  13. tuobanur

Congratulations!! have always thought your photo’s were amazing.

  14. Dennis Mykols

These ads need to be placed in high end, high quality non boating publications like GQ, Style, etc, to entice to non boater to join the hobby. The ad quality is certainly there, and the messages are spot on. Great work guys well done.

Of course, with the increased demand for boats caused by the sudden influx of new woodyboaters, all of our current boats triple in value. Good scheme!!!

As an aside, I always tell people taking their first ride in a wooden boat, “Just think….this used to be a tree!” Gives a whole new appreciation for our golden girl. Hey, that could be a poster caption, too!

  15. Tommyholm

Geez, that iPhone camera thing is working out for you. A small fish in the big DC pond catches some collateral worms. A bigger captains cap, thats what I,m talking about, really big. Btw, what’s a brass bell?

    • m-fine

The Brass Bell is the quarterly publication of the Chris Craft Antique Boat Club. Luckily, CCABC membership is not restricted to current Chris Craft owners, so owners of other brands looking to upgrade or even those that don’t own a boat yet are welcome to join.

  16. Chuck Crosby

WOW, the little Blog that could….Congratulations, was the prize an three night stay in beautiful Lake Dora aboard the exclusive Bennington Woody Pontoon?

  17. floyd r turbo

Well done WB! Its greats to get recognition especially from your own industry. Keep up the great work. I can see it now, WoodyBoater goes mainstream and becomes a household word with the likes of Kleenex, Jell-o, phillip head screws, the yo-yo and zippers.

  18. matt

To those asking if these will be posters for sale. Sadly it is a very expensive thing to do, and distribution can also be a time suck. We have a set here at the office that are 24 x 36 and they are amazing. But not cheap to produce. Maybe one day, if there is a bigger store, we will make them available. In the meantime, enjoy them on your screen saver.

    • m-fine

The timing sucks, I used to work for a large printer manufacturer and could have just run a bunch off in the labs or demo room and sent them to you for the cost of shipping. We had to run hundreds of thousands of prints to test life cycle, reliability and print quality and no one cared what the images were or where they ended up if not recycled.

Wonder if any readers currently have cheap access to a high quality printer.

  19. Denis D

Congrats!! Your ads are a pure art form. Can’t wait to see whats next.

  20. matt

Thats a great idea M fine. The shots are jaw dropping large. If a printer out there wants the gig, speak up..

  21. Philip Andrew

Congrats Matt ! Really beautiful work. Did you put them in One Show?

  22. Matt

These were fresh the week before the show deadline. The ads are still breaking. Then one show and other awards if possible.

  23. Rabbit

Phillip, we’re going to concentrate on entering them at Cannes. Since it’s in the Riviera, they give you an Aquarama with every gold lion.

    • Philip Andrew

Ha! I will be at the Cannes Lions. Come over and lets have some fun. I will buy the first round at the Gutter Bar.

  24. RiverRat

Great collaboration. The know how and those great photos. Thankyou as usual.

  25. Rich Marschner

I have wondered if Matt and Texx have any time left to work on…well, work, as in advertising work. Guess they do! ‘Way to go, you guys!

  26. Dane Clark

It just goes to show that the good guys always win! Congrats from Nautique Optix

  27. red dog

dennis myklos has the right idea these pictures need to go into other publications maybe a few guys ( or women) will think hey that looks like alot of fun maybe i/ spouse should look into buying a woody boat even if its just a few the community grows. matt and team great pictures keep up the great work those pictures are half of what keeps the veiwers of this site coming back

  28. jfkarlson

Congrats guys. Hope to see this in the Kelly Awards or perhaps a Communication Arts feature soon!
