The backyard on Cockrells Creek..

The backyard on Cockrells Creek..This morning! Flat Water!

SO… Ya ever have one of those days? YA know the kinda day where all your plans are to do one thing, and they all turn into another thing. That was yesterday. Here I am, Mr Woody Boater, down at the Reedville HQ, the weather is stunning 75.. And ….. Blowing like a … Fill in joke here..  Any way the flags on the poles are being torn off type stuff. What the hell. I am ready, the boat is ready, the boatress is more than ready.. And all I can see is white caps and misery for a first run. So.. It becomes more mulch spreading time.

The empty boathouse and dock. Two docks by the way and two boat lifts. EMPTY!

The empty boathouse and dock. Two docks by the way and two boat lifts. EMPTY! But those flower beds are full.. of mulch!

Two Dump trucks worth. We have lots of flower beds.. To many flower beds. Weed farms. UGH.. The good news though, is that around 3 pm the wind died down and it was stunning.. Absolutely stunning. Get out the cooler, were gonna have a sunset cruise tonight.. Boat gets all prepped, and a quick drive to the ramp.. LOW TIDE! WTF? Low tide at my ramp can be catastrophic and involve a wrecker if you fall off the edge. And with Suzy the 24 ft Sportsman, she needs a lot of room to float off the trailer. SO.. back to the barn, and more Mulch..

Back in the barn..

Back in the barn..

More flower beds, trees and the barn

More flower beds, trees and the barn

Lots of mulch, wheel barrow after wheel barrow of pitch forked mulch.. So, today.. High tide is around 10, so by 8 or so. I am kissing the mulch so long and going Woody Boat’n… I hope..

More beds.. Lots of flower beds.. This is the back of the house, built in 1925

Nice flat water and the other dock. This dock can handle a 40 foot boat.. Nice cruiser..

If the wind picks back up, I can pull out the sander and work on the bar, THAT THING IS HEAVY!

Water Lily was launched yesterday. The weather is beautiful and she is waiting for us on the lift for another day of WoodyBoating in Michigan.

Low tide is not a problem for us. More like low dock. Looks like June 14th or so for launch this year.

Don’t touch that bar except to fill ‘er up, hope for calm water (and that the mulch truck gets a flat), and enjoy! The bar looks great as it is!

Your property is beautiful, Mr. & Mrs. WoodyBoater! You must be proud of that place- amazing boat shop too! The cherry on top is the bar- so cool it hurts. So, when are we having a WoodyBoater sail-in picnic there?

We took the sunset cruise for you since your’s didn’t work out. Our first day with Second Love on the water started out a little iffy but a quick call to CD’s Casey and we were off and running. The day here on Platte Lake was one of the best Memorial Day Saturdays we’ve ever had. Not much of a breeze, full sun and temperature near 70. The sunset cruise was the perfect end to very nice day.

Here’s a picture earlier in the day of Cask-Away taken from Second Love.

Is that bar from an old cruiser sitting behind Calico Jacks in Lively?

It looks like that one flower bed is “for the birds”. Great site, if I wasn’t at the lake house now I would be jealous.

Throw me in that briarpatch. The only work the bar needs is restocking, don’t touch it otherwise and God bless those who served and gave their life so we can do this in our leisure.

and my son just moved 80 yds of mulch with some other laborers on his first school weekend off for summer. Welcome to the wonderful world of work.
