25 miles out on the Atlantic Ocian in a Sea Skiff.

Biggest Balls Winner David Konick headed out 25 miles into the Atlantic Ocean on Monday in his trusty Sea Skiff and found these new friends out there! As David said it, ” Trolling back in just inside the 20- fathom line about 25 miles offshore, I saw a splash about 1/4 mile ahead — it was dolphins. They heard the boat, I guess and came charging over to is, then looped under the keel and came up alongside, two on each side. Then they played under the bow for about 10 minutes.  What a show!

Dang! Magic stuff

Its not uncommon for David to head out over 30 miles into the ocean.. 30 miles in a 22ft sea skiff. My balls are to small for that kinda stuff.

That is the first reason that I have ever seen to want to run a boat in salt water. Really Cool!

David is a real fisherman and uses the boat for the purpose it was intended when originally built. 1

David, great to see that you are still having more fun in your 22′ Sea Skiff than the rest of us could possibly have the guts for. Fantastic!

Hey! We miss you at CCABC!!! Come back.

David Konick is a great guy with an adventurous spirit- a true ambassador for the wooden boat hobby. He takes good care of his boat, and she takes good care of him. That’s a good relationship.

It’s gratifying to see people have so much fun with these Sea Skiffs; 60 years on and they’re still proving their worth as trusted partners on the water!

My mother, who grew up on Lake Superior and around boats of all types always said she wouldn’t go out on the Lakes in anything smaller than 36′. So that’s why I’ve got a 36′ Constellation. I wanted something she would feel comfortable going out onto the Great Lakes in. Dave’s is a little scary but in capable hands I’m sure it’s safe. After all they used to deliver all the runabouts and utilities from Algonac to Hessel over the water! And they were a lot smaller.

Very common sight in the PNW, we have had Orcas also play along side boats…
