Here is one of the two shots

Late yesterday we got a fun email from fellow Woody Boater Samual Hiser, He sent these two obscure photos with a queation. Does anyone know what this is? I told him it looked like a boat house jokingly cause how in the hell is anyone going to be able to tell what this is just from the transom. I blue up the shots, I tweeked them to find data in the dark areas.. Nothing.. But then it hit me that some one out there would know.. I don’t know how they would know, I just know someone will. And here is the best part, No one knows, so you could just make a convincing argument for what it is what it is and no one would know. Know what I mean. Any way.. If your comment is worthy, we will name you officially the “Boat Spotter of the year”! You can comment as the ” Boat Spotter of the year” At events make appearances.. so people can spot you.. Babes will ask you for directions just to be near you, unless you are a woman, in which case, dudes will ask you for directions.. Wow, this story is going on and one about nothing, Which is about as much information there is on this boat.. So.. Here is Samuals email..

Ohhhhhh, that clears it up.. Good luck..

Ohhhhhh, that clears it up.. Good luck..

It’s in a communal boat house in Beloit WI.  This is as close as I could get from land and no one was around to unlock the door.  It has the rear of a CC Sedan but I think it has elevated seating for bulk head steering. It didn’t look to be 22′.. Perhaps 18′ at most.   Obviously looks like she’s been sitting for a long long time.

yes bacon will help the woody senses.. Add cheese in some sort of way and you will be able to tell us the day it was built

It turns out no one remembered to take the bacon out of the freezer last night so it is currently reducing the swelling on my knee while we wait for it to defrost enough to cook. I guess we are going to have to wait a bit before I can spot the hull ID in those photos.

While we wait for an answer, Tobler met a new friend.

“Hey dad, she has the right markings for a Berner but she looks skinny and has short fur”

Lola is a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog puppy and she is fun to play with.

So far I have tried bacon, goat cheese, and fresh blueberry pancakes with real syrup (the maple kind) and I still don’t know anything more about that boat than I did when I woke up this morning.

I tried fresh cheese curd browned on the griddle and I too don’t know what the boat is. Maybe we’re going about this wrong. Maybe the answer is chocolate, I’ll need to find my wife’s stash.

My best guess is a post war Chris Craft 22′ Custom
Streamlined Sedan. Not many made. Exquisite lines. Prettiest Sedan of them all? (Perhaps only rivaled by Paul and Karen Harrison’s “End of the Line” GarWood.)

Here’s a photo of John Reus’ (of MBBW) restored 22′ Custom Streamlined Sedan, “Josephine.”

Thanks matt! Well, I am out in Houston for work, but I plan on heading back up to this area and check the boat out again. The lighting in those pictures was just about the same in person.. sucked. But I could tell that boat hasnt been off that lift in ages., perhaps even before the boat house was resided in aluminum. Some points I noticed were the boat lacks a fuel fill and sterm pole holder on the transom, lacking some trim around the exhaust and on the splash rails, and there is that elevated seat and a left side steering.. Thats not to say someone didn’t take liberties on a 22′ sedan.. Initially I thought it looked like the stubby Streblow cruiser.. and inboard version? Like I said before, it seemed shorter than 22′ . I’ll find a way to see it up close in a few days. Dibs if it is for sale!

Interesting observations…It is definitely a boat.

P.S. Glad you got off the multiplication tables for the math…I was never very good after we got past 5 times the numbers… seven was over my head…and Nine times ? virtually impossible…..Not enuff fingers.

P.S. Just noticed the header…Remember the first five days after the weekend are the worst.

I would agree with Post War CC Sedan with outside Helm (kind of Express Style). Looks like it may have a Bimini top as well. Length? I would say longer than 18′. You can’t really see the front of the Cabin to tell.

I know the boat resides in the Star Zenith Boat Club boathouse, but their number is disconnected. I actually sent an email to a fellow that had a boat show this month there asking if he might have information about it. I may not be a “boat spotter” but I know my way around the internet and Google Earth and a with a bit of luck he will email me back and we’ll have an answer.

Who knows! It could be a kit boat but I know it’s not a u22 sedan you can see the steering wheel and seat in the photo of the transom.
