Jimmy and Patrick in Reedville having a little fun!

Jimmy and Patrick in Reedville having a little fun!

Three weekends, three shows. This weekend we will be in our home town of Reedville Virginia at the classic boat show put on by the Reedville Fishermans Museum and the Tidewater ACBS chapter.

The Great Wicomico River, Reedville Virginia

The Great Wicomico River, Reedville Virginia

This is a small intimate show in a very cool little town located on the mouth of the Great Wicomico River and the Chesapeake Bay. Reedville has a very rich history in fishing that is still very much alive.

Then next weekend its the big Smith Mountain lake show also here in Virginia. Smith Mountain Lake is the Lake George of Virginia. A stunning lake located in the Mountains of Virginia.

This Local ACBS group is a ton of fun, and the show delivers the areas top boats. We are trying to make the show, not sure yet.. Its a play it by ear thing since its located 4 hrs away.

This incredible ’38 Gar Wood triple features a factory-spec canvas decking, painted a dark blue-green. It also has, according to the owner, the first stern-drive system in a production boat. Add the innovative walk-about rear seating, and you have one special Gar. “Blythe Spirit” won Best in Show Preserved for Michael and Elaine Jakubowski.

Then the big one. The big International Show in Skaneateles NY. We will be reporting live starting Friday from the show. This show draws the best of the best all in one last gasp show setting on a stunning Lake populated by one of the nicest group of folks on the planet. If you are on the fence. GO, if you are not on the fence, get on the fence and go, come, be there..

I don’t know why I expect to see a big triple on a bouy bobbing in front of the Rosevelt compound. It seems appropriate.

WOW what a Great line up!

Not sure as I will make any of them, maybe the international, but I may just be out boating instead.

You go Troy! Get that boating time in!! Hey! You could go by boat! You’d have to leave now though!

I don’t think he will be able to get there by boat. Seneca and Cayuga, yes, but Skaneateles is another 500ft higher in elevation and there is no canal to get you up there. Better to bring the boat on a trailer.

I will be at the international Friday and Saturday. My wife and kids already said no, and Tobler is leaning against it because it will be two long days and he needs to do a lot of napping to support his rapid growth rate.

If anyone is going to be in the area earlier I may take another day or two off that week and hang out on Keuka, the coolest of the finger lakes.

We arrive on Tuesday for the International – looking forward to that show, and getting to see an area that I have never seen before.

Taking two boats to Reedville, hope to see lots of friends there both old and new.

I’d love to go the International Show. Since I’m a distant relative of the Roosevelt’s (my great great Grandmother was a Delano) I wonder if they’d let me stay at the ‘Family Compound’? Looks like it should be a great time! Have fun everyone and safe travels and as always, safe boating!

Bill if you can get Sandi and me a room I may forgo the boating for a weekend just to hang out with you at the estate.

For those coming to the international, this might be helpful. We talk weird around these parts and it gets worse when the lakes all have Indian names.

M-fine is right. Our soda is called “pop”, and our hot dogs are either red, or white.

    • m-fine

Actually, Skaneateles is in the soda region. If anyone ventures west to the other lakes or the wineries, they will run in to pop country.

We will arrive at “Skinnyaltas” on Wednesday afternoon and plan on launching “Lyman Tyme” that evening.
Looking for a lot of end of the season boatin time…
