It is with a heavy heart that we report the loss of fellow Woody Boater Joan Greene. Joan was one of the fun ones, the first to wave and the first to welcome us to any Lake Hopatcong event. Joan loved her boats she had owned over the years, two Riviareas, and a 1949 18′ Sportsman and loved running them on the lake. She also loved her kayak…alot… But Joan’s perfect award winning 1956 18′ Continental was very special to her. What made Joan’s boat special, other than Joan was always in it, was it had a factory coral pink interior her trademark color!
Just like Joan, her boat was a one of a kind that brought a smile to any face that would meet her. A long time friend of fellow Woody boaters Wayne Moxfield, Bob Kays, and Seth and Renee Katz. Joan was one of Wayne’s original customers when he started the Marina on Lake Hopatcong which is now Katz’s Marina.
A well loved President of the Lake Hopatcong chapter of the ACBS. The first ACBS chapter in the world. Joan was still very involved in the classic boat community. Sadly we got the news yesterday from a very devastated Seth Katz regarding her passing and wanted to pass along the news to many of the people she touched through out her full history of classic boating. A special thanks to fellow Woody boater Bob Kays for sending us these photos and Jim Wangard of Classic Boating magazine.
