Larson find 2

Just imagine yourself at the wheel!

Fellow Woody Boater Joe Lepley from Annandale, MN found this little treasure along the road. Now.. Here is the question, is it saveable. Or is it perfect the way that it is. Yard art. Maybe it will be ready for the huge Wood & Water event in September. Eat your heart out Mr Bortner. HA, Here is the story from Joe.

Larson Yard Find 3

Its all there-ish

Thought I’d share these pictures with you.   Came across this little Larson runabout recently.   It was sitting along the driveway of a home in Kimball, MN.     I talked to a woman who had great memories of using the boat with her family when she was young.   At some point it required more repairs than Dad could handle and out in the yard it went.   I’m not sure if it started out as a planter, but today a several shrubs call it “home”!   I guess that’s why I don’t read much about “yard find” restorations on Woody Boater!

I think that one needs a viking funeral which at this point means loading it into another boat so you can set it ablaze and send it off to sea.

OMC remote controls and steering should be salvaged though

I’ll see your Larson and raise an Arena unlimited hydro.

Jim — wow, is this a recent picture? Anything worth salvaging for museum display (like the cowlings, hardware, etc.)?????

It was all recycled. I found out the name of the boat. It was a “Known” boat, Fageol powered. Don’t remember it now. Old timers in town said you could hear “Old Joe” out in his toy for miles. He would run the two miles to the dam and circle back. Here is a shot of the rudder with built in water pickup.

Just a strip, stain, and varnish as they say in Minnesooota.

That header photo would make a great advertisement for stick-on registration numbers 🙂
