Coffee cups will be on hand in Algonac.
We are officially on our way to Algonac. Considering we will be spending the day looking at life through a windshield, we thought it would be fun to have you post your Windshield today. Ya ya, we know, they are ironically the most overlooked part on your boat. But when you look at your windshields instead of through it, they really are a major part of the style of your stylish craft.

Like how headlights are the eyes of your car. On a Classic boat, the shape, and location of yours can define the boat. Neato Bugatti ones, Triple ones, Folding ones, Batmoble ones..

Show us yours today as we head to ALGONAC! And stay tuned for Live reports as we arrive at the event of the summer.

So post your windshield today, through the windshield, broken windsheild’s? Bring them on!

Before headed off to Graves plating!

The sweeping wooden windshield lines of an early Chris-Craft Utility. OK – Can you guess who this is, and what boat this is, where, and/or when? It’s an easy bonus quiz today…

Not exactly an antique or classic by “vintage standards”, but here’s our Armada 24, “Raptor” and her windshield just before heading out to the racetrack in Michigan with Kevin Klosterman. I brought her to Tavares a few years ago and gave rides. As you can imagine, she was an airborne hit!

Here’s my ’59 Chetek ventilating windshield at the Milwaukee Boat Show a couple of Januarys ago. People really like to just sit in my boat for some reason.

The windshield of “Tigert Lily”. She will be in Algonac this weekend. I hope you will be too!
Greg Lewandowski
That’s Tiger Lily, not Tigert Lily!

Here is the windshield of our Swedish built runabout from 1937.

The quiz answer is Boatress, Woodygal, and Jim Frischette (sp?) on the Dora canal.
I will have to check the phone for any handy windshield photos.

m-fine you forgot to add Blue Moon II guess that means I get the frozen wieners.

Darn! I can only remember so much between the article and scrolling through the comments and forgot to answer the boat. Oh well.

Heading from Tavares to Mt. Dora last March. Beautiuful evening, great ride, and cracked the windshield to get some of that refreshing FL air through the cockpit. There was 6″ of snow back home in Indiana at the time. I felt sooooo bad for the folks at home.

after running around in Old School, with no windshield, it is so nice to have one on those chilly days…

DAMN, too early to post this stuff, lets try one more time, if I screw up this time, it’s back to bed for me…

Arguably, the least attractive feature of my Greavette Sunflash IV but, it’s oh, so 1970’s practical with vent and all. It’s so tall you don’t even notice it when you’re in the boat.

Algonac, are you ready for Wild Bill Anderson (his better half, Nancy) AND the unique classic fiberglass boat he’s bringing from IL?? Bill just sent this to me as taken while he’s cruising to “Where It All Began”….I’M ONLY THE MESSENGER!!
I will also be in Algonac later this evening and look forward to seeing all our Woody Boater pals over the next few days!
Carla
And the picture would be nice…

Lovin that Greavette Burgee!
Kentucky Wonder
Does anyone know what the Greavette burgees looked like in 1949? Or even what their factory colors were? Ours is simply the 1960s Greavette script put onto a stock color nylon pennant.
Flash
My sexy one piece windshield, it was short lived, the 1970 model featured a 3 piece.
Brian F
Flash, did you paint your cavalier black? Or was this from during your big restoration?? Looks sharp! Also, is that the original windshield or did you actually find a shop capable of making a replacement??

Sure like the boat that Chris Smith is setting in, what is it and why want the pictures blow up??

ComOcean’s Venting Windscreen keeps us cool at Shoreline Village. Wish we could make it to Algonac again. Maybe next year. Have fun, guys.
Dennis Mykols
Love those big old Lyman vent windows. BUT on a trailer, they were like airplane flaps, slowing me down at 70 miles per hour.
I am amazed I never had something hit those big glass windows, with all the miles we towed that old girl…
Dennis Mykols
Windshields are over rated on some hot summer days, when you want some wind in your hair. (While you still got some…)

How do you get a young person interested in our old boats? Let them drive one. Here our son under the watchful eye of the first mate is at the helm of our 1961 Higgins Mandalay.

Indeed, John! It’s all about “the driving experience”!

Was just at the site for The Big Show @ Algonac. There are already a few boats on hand. A beautiful Futura, a very nice Sea Skiff and this one – Shepsel VII!! Can’t hardly stand it!! There was a Memorial for Herb Pocklington today that I was trying to make. Got caught in Construction on I-69 and missed it! But I’ll send my Greetings out to Rose, I’m sure it was just send off Herb would have wanted!

Hello-
What year, model and size is that boat ? I have a 1956 Sportsman 17, which needs a windshield, and that one looks similar to some old pictures I have of the boat

no other streblow lovers out there, they have the best windshields with the heavy mahogany framing!

You certainly struck a nerve today, Matt. One more: A windshield in the boathouse in January. Yes, I sneak down there with a pint.

Not everyday you can see a Pelican and the Queen Mary thru your windshield…….

Nice to look at a wood deck through a windshield.
Brian F
Isn’t this what classic boating is all about!! Both toddlers were under 2 at that time!! The big plexi windshield makes a great handle for a little person, unfortunately this is a major strength problem and thus the single piece plexi window only last one year of production…
Grant Stanfield
I love short foredeck and sweeping side shields of the 1st-gen. CC Sea Skiff…the optional ventilating windshield on our 1954 22′ is an added bonus if you just can’t get enough green spray in your face as you plow through heavy weekend Jet-Ski chop on Green Lake in WI..!

Ain’t nobody got time for a windshield
