TODAY WE ARE HEADING DOWN SOUTH TO THE TENNESSEE RIVER with contributor Allen Papendick (his official Woody Boater code name / handle is “Wylie”) for the 24th annual Pickwick Landing Rendezvous – presented by the Dixieland ACBS Chapter.
While classic boaters in some parts of the country are hauling out their boats and sticking them in the shed for winter, the folks in Mississippi are fortunate to still be boating (and showing).
This year “Wylie” has covered – 1.) the Century Roundup in Conneaut PA; 2.) the Traverse City Boat Show in Michigan; 3.) The Hessel Boat Show in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and today #4.) the Pickwick Landing show in Mississippi.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank “Wylie” for his various contributions to Woody Boater throughout the year. We know these Live-ish reports take a great deal of time to prepare, with a short time to get there – and we really appreciate the help. – Texx
24th Annual Pickwick Landing Rendezvous
Classic Boating on the Tennessee River
Report & Photos by Wylie
It was a beautiful fall day in Luka, Mississippi. Mid 60’s and not a cloud in the sky. Aqua Yacht Harbor was the venue for the Dixieland Chapter ACBS 24th annual Pickwick Landing Rendezvous. The Dixieland Chapter represents Alabama, Tennessee, Northern Lousianna & Eastern Mississippi – a large geographical area.
A great time was had by all. As the boats were docked we found our way to the Filling Station Grill where we enjoyed pizza and football on the outdoor deck.
I forgot to mention that the Dixieland ACBS Chapter offers boat rides, all you have to do is ask. “Guests are always welcome and no one gets left at the docks.” – Wylie
Special thanks again to “Wylie” for sharing this report with us today – splitting his time between the makeover of his classic 1957 Century Arabian complete with African Avodire mahogony. Go Wylie Go!
