ALTHOUGH IT’S BEEN JUST OVER THREE WEEKS since the big boat show at Gull Lake, Minnesota, folks that attended the Woods and Water 2015 events are still talking about how great it was. We hear comments like “One of the best ever.” A testament to the hard working team of volunteers from the Bob Speltz Land-O-Lakes Chapter who worked for more than 2-1/2 years to make it such a successful event.

A huge gallery of photographs from the entire week of Woods and Water events is now available courtesy of Freedom Boat Service. – Texx

Woods and Water 2015 photography is up and available!

The Woods and Water photography is now available for viewing and purchase on the Freedom Boat Service website. “We’re proud to have sponsored the photography for the recent Woods and Water event”, says Dave Bortner of Freedom Boat Service. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Wayne Davis, our professional photographer, for over 25 years, and he’s simply one of the very best motorsports photographers in the world. I think you’ll agree when you see the results!”

Both low-resolution and hi-resolution images are available, the low-res versions are downloadable, and FREE. The hi-res versions are available to order prints and other photographic products, through a third-party photo lab operating “behind” the Freedom site. ALL PROFITS from the photography go to the Bob Speltz Land-O-Lakes Chapter of ACBS to help defray the cost of producing the Woods and Water event.

“We’re using the Freedom Boat Service web site as the platform for the photography because it’s set up to handle the number and size of these digital files”, Dave Bortner explained. “With almost 4000 photos available from the event available now, we think everybody who attended will find something to smile about.”

“It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to work together with so many great sponsors, volunteers, and our outstanding committee to put on Woods and Water 2015, said Dave Bortner. “We hope the availability of these photos will keep the memories alive and vibrant for everyone who attended, as well as those who wish they had!”

Thanks Dave. Creating a massive photo gallery from a major classic boating event, and then making them available to the general public is something we don’t normally see, and we applaud Dave Bortner and Freedom Boat Service for making this happen.

As Dave noted above, Wayne Davis is one of the countries leading professional motorsports photographers, and it was fabulous to be able to spend some time visiting and shooting with Wayne during the Woods and Water boat show. LOVE the header today!

Fitting well into the group that “wish we had gone” it is nice to see some more great shots of the event.

I am not sure if I voted for People’s Choice or not, but if I did, I would likely have been for this boat. It is owned by Okanagan ACBS chapter member Richard Daley and is a 1958 Fellows & Stewart, factory built and meant for kids. Richard was a fabulous ambassador for the hobby, tirelessly placing kids in the boat for photo opp’s with their families. The kids, and the families, loved it.

Richard had a great display to go with the boat, with lots of pictures and documentation of the worlds’ smallest runabout. It would be wonderful if there were more of these tiny boats around, for just this purpose. The interest in it, amongst perhaps the finest collection of vintage boats ever put together, was really quite amazing. Many people were asking if there were plans available for them, and apparently that is being worked on.

I would like to look at the photos, but I need to scrape the ice off my windshield.

Wayne Davis’ associate Sandra should be given due credit for her photography as well, especially all those photos she took of me!

Thanks to Mr. Davis and the photographers. Great pi Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the show an over the top success. And thanks Mr.Bortner who made it possible to see these great photos at little or no cost and helped reroute all or most of the back to the club. That was a huge boost for the club.
