FELLOW WOODY BOATERS BRIAN FOGARTY AND HIS DAD MIKE had every vantage point covered (even from the sky) at the Indian Lake Ohio Chapter show – held recently at Russell’s Point Harbor. And fortunately for us, they shared their story here today. By the way, you can click on the images to enlarge them. – Texx
Indian Lake (Ohio) ACBS Chapter 18th Annual Vintage Boat and Car Show
Story by Brian and Mike Fogerty
Photos by Barbara Peters, Jeff Peters and others.
Indian Lake’s historic Russell’s Point Harbor was the venue on July 16 for the 18th, and best ever, show featuring 38 vintage boats and 40 classic cars.
The harbor and street were full of beautiful wood, aluminum and fiberglass boats as it was in the 1930’s through the 1960’s when the amusement park and dance halls with big bands brought thousands of tourists from all over Ohio.
This non-judged show attracts a wide variety of boats, huge turnout of spectators, and fosters lots of nostalgic stories and friendships.
One first-time attendee who brought an unusual boat was Richard Harris of Hamilton, Ohio. Richard found his 11 foot, 1948 Danbury Fair Racer with 26 1/2 horsepower Crosley 4-cylinder engine in the weeds near the Danbury, Connecticut Amusement Park.
There were 19 of these boats built to race in a 40 foot-wide moat which was a quarter-mile oval around the amusement park from 1948-1950. This boat was restored by Mr. Harris to like-new condition and was one of the main attractions of our show.
We are one of the smallest ACBS chapters but attract interesting people, cars and boats every year.
Special thanks to Brian Fogerty and Mike for sharing their story with us today, as well as the photographers who pitched in to help – we appreciate the effort. – Texx

The vision of the Indian Lake Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society is to provide an organization where people with a common interest in and love of historic, antique, and classic boats can come together with friends and colleagues in a spirit of fellowship and fun to share dreams, adventures, knowledge, history and experiences.
Our chapter promotes this vision to enthusiasts throughout central and northwestern Ohio. We are a volunteer, non-profit organization based at Indian Lake. This website is designed to facilitate communication with chapter members and introduce our chapter and the ACBS to those in our area who share our passion for vintage watercraft.
